So basically we’re not taking enough shots because we’re playing crappy defensive football, but conceding a lot of shots because we’re playing crappy defensive football. Sounds about Emery.

If we could play defensive football that would be fine. We actually can’t do that. We are just an incohesive mess that’s totally unfunctional.

If we atleast had a good backline, we’d still be the best team apart from Liverpool and City in the league. As much as I hate to say it, the English league is now the La Liga of yesterday: two teams going for the title while other 2-3 decently average teams(us, Leicester, scum and Chelsea) fight for the CL spots. We now neither have a top quality defense, or midfield, or attack for that matter(bar Auba arguably). We are bang average all over the pitch, and it’s showing in the results over a stretch of games.

Another way of looking at it is that we are comparing Emery’s best Arsenal season with Wenger’s worst Arsenal season; and he still barely did well

And we also got the most points in the second half of the campaign that season if I’m not mistaken, as if an Unai Emery managed side is reaching those heights.

This is now Arsenal’s worst start to a league season since 1982, 37 years ago. Arsenal finished that season in 10th
I went to a few games that season.
The expectation level was no more than a good FA Cup or League Cup run and anywhere in the top half was ok.
I know it’s hard to believe but it was worse than it is under Emery, when Neill was manager.
The only reason he wasn’t sacked that season was because he got to the semi final of both cups but he left half way through the following season.
Football was completely different then but it seemed more fun going to matches even though we were boring and mid table.
