Is there a video of that press conference anywhere? Would love to see it

Just spent 30 minutes watching FA TV highlights from our Finals in 14, 15 and 17.

So satisfying watching them again, some really good memories and great seeing guys like Walcott and Mertesacker scoring in finals. You could see how much it meant to them.

I think those victories have gotten sweeter over the last few years, given how low we’ve sunk.

Some good goals too!

That was some real ambition. 100k a week was huge money back then

Bizarrely, the Villa one ranks quite highly in my favourite FA Cup Finals I’ve been to. In a way, it’s one of the least memorable in terms of being a contest and its also fairly lowly opposition, but its the only time we’ve given a team a proper hiding in a cup final, was such a great atmosphere in a slightly more relaxed and enjoyable way, what with there being little tension due to the scoreline.

Arsenal took 45 points out of a possible 51 between Christmas ‘97 and May 1998 :muscle:

What a time to be alive

Best ever performance by an Arsenal team was that win at Blackburn on the run in. Never surpassed that performance and doesn’t get the recognition it deserves.

I think that Blackburn game is universally recognised as the turning point. Can’t say I remember it as it’s doubtful i saw it but it’s always the one the players talk about when discussing that season.

I love that Wrighty got to win a league in an Arsenal shirt. It just seems so fitting considering he joined right after 91 so had just missed out then.

Should’ve won in 98-99 as well and enjoyed back to back titles, my absolute biggest regret in football apart from Paris 06.

Talking about turning points, arguably one penalty kick for us changes the rest of the course of the season

“And it’s Tony Adams, he’s been put through by Steve Bould of all people…”

Late season loss at Elland Road ?

Yes or that, that was the killer :see_no_evil:

Watching some season reviews and some of the howlers Seaman made makes me think he would be crucified in today’s social media driven landscape.

Was that the season we conceded 14 goals in the league?

Double season, I think.

Not saying he’s bad  More the fickle nature of fans nowadays.

I feel like the 2002 World Cup broke him

David Seaman’s a lovely guy, I had the good fortune to meet him while he was in training for Dancing On Ice a few years back.

I was interviewing him ostensibly about the ice skating but as an Arsenal fan he was happy to take time out and talk through his career as well. I think my favourite ex player, along with Ian Wright and Alan Smith

Was actually inconsolable after this. Crying on my bed and everything if I remember :joy::joy:

Ahhh man, when Theo ran the pitch to assist Adebayor the excitement levels were insane! I really thought we had a gem in him and we were going to really go far in the champions league that year.
