Andrey Arshavin

That tournament literally made him, pretty sure we bought him off the back of that tournament.

One of my favourite players to watch for Arsenal, when he was on he was just magic and he had the ability to create a goal out of nothing and change a game.

Woefully mismanaged though, would have been superb in a front 2.

I remember reading a pre season prediction from fans.
There was a spurs fans who predicted Arshavin to have a massive season.
So disappointed how it eventually turned out after Arshavin’s first 4 months.

I think his numbers were still really impressive regardless even in his second season.

All in all, I’d say Arshavin never helped himself but he also wasn’t utilised too well by Wenger.

I remember that era we signed a lot of players who were traditionally central attacking players and played them wide. Nasri, Rosicky, Hleb are just three examples that spring to mind of players we played out side.

Love him though and honestly wish we’d signed him a season or so earlier and played him as a second striker / number 10

I remember The Sun gave him 6 out of 10 the next day.

Amazing game, the annoying thing was it was yet another game we allowed Liverpool to restore parity in stoppage time at Anfield.

They would ,

I like how he’s left Arsenal to become a full time nerd.

“Including all known lanthinides and actinides?”

Just want to say it again, never scored a bad or scrappy goal for us.

so random to quote yourself and say the same thing after months

Arshavin was a throwback to the classic number 10s of the past. Not just about creating, but scored plenty of goals.

He did have everything though. Great shooting and great dribbling for that position.

One of my favourite Emirates era players. Created some iconic moments for the club (4 at Anfield and the winner versus Barcelona).

I’ll remember him fondly indeed.

I’ll add great vision and eye for the killer pass, an extremely intelligent player.
Always wanted to see him in the number 10 position when Cesc was out but Wenger never tried that.

This guy used to be better than the current 11 players combined

I wonder how he would have worked playing as a second striker or a #10?

Feel like he was wasted on the wing he didn’t have the work rate for it and he wasn’t good at touchline hugging when it was required.
