Alexander Isak

Bit of a form dip at Newcastle too. We’ll see how they fare.

Regardless of they secure CL football or not, that price tag will remain circa £150M. We’re not that kind of club to spunk that kind of money on a player and frankly, even knowing how good he is, I would wince paying that kind of price for mostly any player not named (peak) Messi.

Just accept that this was a signing that we didn’t feel like acting on when offered the opportunity and move on.

If we could get Isaak for less than 90m, it would be worth it but, like you say around 150m would be our whole budget on a player that might not stay fit.

Players like Gyokeres and Williams for less, would be better value and for both positions that need strengthening the most.

We’ll create our own Isak in Sesko.

Hah!

There’s probably going to be competition for him

Its no given we’ll get him, his agent is gonna auction him off to the highest bidder as per

who is this “excerpt”?
a janitor for The Athletic?

Isak was never within our range and ability (150m), and if Sesko is not interested to join, move on.
He is not Erling Haaland.
There will be a bidding war for him anyway.

Build our attack on the left, there will be plenty serviceable strikers with reasonable price in summer.

I can see it now, we manage to land him to the absolute euphoria of the fan base, only for his hamstring to pop in the first 3 weeks.

Not going to believe anything from AFCamden.

But a Nwaneri-Isak-Saka frontline for the next five years would fucking cook.

On a serious note, that’s the type of forward signing I expect because of what they just pulled this window.
Dudes like Sesko ain’t gonna cut it.

Prepared to be disappointed and get your banner out then.

Me on the 1st of September:

Can Nwaneri play on the left to a high level/have we seen it yet?

I don’t think he has ever lined up as a LW at first team level but we saw him play on that side of the pitch as the left 8 during preseason and we’ve seen him switch onto that flank at times from the RW this year.

Two moments of quality really stand out to me. In preseason, when he was playing the L8 he moved up, found space between the RB and RCB to receive a pass and lightning quick make a perfect left footed low cross for Jesus’ equalizer against Manchester United. Then a few games ago when he wandered over to the left wing against Girona, he picks up the ball, dribbles on his right foot to the corner of the box, and plays a deadly right footed cross to Trossard who completely fucked it up. Those sorts of actions plus his overall ability that he has shown give me confidence that he could play there at a high level. He probably wouldn’t be as good as he is on the RW but assuming he keeps improving I don’t think that unlikely that he’d be a better option than Martinelli or Trossard at LW next year, especially if given a full preseason to learn the position.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see sesko still if Williams does end up at Barca. We still need two forwards.

I’d rather the big money went on wirtz but if he’s staying another year then it opens the door to Isak. We must make a statement move like with rice.
