I mean, it’s fair highlighting Isak’s weaknesses but we should mention some for Gyokeres too
He seems to mainly score in transition and while he did record 10 assists last season, his hold-up play doesn’t seem particularly great.
His hold play is better than Isak’s, it’s not a weakness whereas Isak’s might be.
The transition thing is valid but from what I’ve seen that wouldn’t be an issue.
Do you know how good/bad his aerial prowess is?
I don’t remember seeing many headed goals from him and I’ve had a look at fbref and his aerials won rate is pretty poor for a striker.
Comparing to Havertz for example, Kai seems to be. on a totally different level in that department.
I’m aware of it yeah, but like I said don’t think it’d be a massive issue despite being one of the very few areas that could see improvement. Despite that difference I’d have him over Havertz any day of the week.
When it comes to winning possession, pressing he’s very good indeed.
He’s clear of someone like Isak as far as all round game goes, I don’t see many areas if at all that Isak beats him.
Cheaper, better all round and actually robust rather than being quite brittle. Isak would break with all the dog work you need to do to play for us.
Agree to disagree. Having watched them both play together in a few internationals I do not share your view.
Here’s an idea, we sign neither.
Gyokeres is the only answer for me.
Striker market is shit otherwise. Isak is awesome but he gives me RVP vibes in terms of injuries.
Or we can have both
Gyökeres hat-trick for 5-0, Azerbaijan struggling heavily with his pace. Isak had a pen saved earlier as well, could’ve been 6-0, or more really. Isak probably denied a goal that was wrongly VARed. It’s good to see our NT scoring some goals.
edit: Gyökeres with a fourth.
Azerbedjan goal difference is -14
What’s even the point of those joint top scorer charts?
shush don’t play down our effort.
Azerbaijan are great.
They’re great, they’re a great team, great players, they got many great players, Azerbaijan is a beautiful country, I’ve played them many times, they’re great.
What do you mean 32 goals?! I know he’s been predominantly playing farmers in the Nations League and Primeira Liga but those are outrageous numbers.
Surely he doesn’t keep this up? Because if not he might be end the season on 80-100 goals.
Been saying dude is a top three striker in the world hiding in plain sight
Well he isn’t hiding anymore, I don’t care if most of it is occuring in Portugal. I know what I see with the eye test and that was the case even before this season, he’s going to shatter last season’s numbers at this rate.
He’s one of one in Europe, just isn’t another striker like him at the top level.
Gyokeres with Saka and Odegaard, would be the best attacking line up in the PL and if we upgrade on Martinelli as well, it would be the best in Europe.
But we should have gone for him last season because since then, every top club in Europe, looking for a striker will be after him, so Isaak is probably more realistic for us.
Get Gyokeres and Nico.
150M combined. (If not less).
The best forward line in the world.
Get it done.
Sell Martinelli and Jesus for around 50m each and it’s even cheaper, although it’s unlikely we’ll get either of Gykores and Williams, who are likely to be closer to 100m each.
But, if we did get both, a forward line of Saka, Odegaard, Gyokeres and Williams would certainly be up there with Henry, Bergkamp, Pires and Ljungberg.
I’m sold. We need to get gyokeres
gyokeres has supposedly (dont know if it is true) got something in his contract that makes him available for just over £60m. Seems to be the figure most people are talking about at the moment.
