Brentford to sign yet another washed English player?

About 5 years ago there’d be rumours about us signing him if this happened, same as it happened with Jack.

I do like that historically the club has been helping retired players for stuff like this.

Feels like ages since we had one of these

Wilshere was the last notable one. Fabregas did complete part of his coaching training with the PFA at our facilities.
Fairly positive I’ve seen a picture of someone else using our facilities in recently but can’t recall now who it was.

I know he was there for the Madueke announcement. Not sure if he visited us for anything else.

Edit: Interesting, I’ve looked it up and you’re right Tyreece also joined us to stay fit while a free agent.

Why him though? He bailed on us for Liverpool after flirting with them behind our backs for months, why can’t he just train with them? I like that the club does this for certain players but there’s a line that has to be drawn and frankly I’d tell someone like him to fuck right off. I find it a bit annoying that we’d even be entertaining this.

He may as well start doing his coaching badges while he’s here.

Players come to Arsenal because Arsenal is a London club & it’s convenient for them.
Arsenal allows this because players likely pay to use the premises.

It’s a professional setup and you can’t deny someone based on fan sentimentality.

Out of all the rival moves the I’ve witnessed, Chamberlain’s move hurt the least.

In fact, at the time I remember I was ok with the move. To this day our record sale.

Not sure that’s the case. Pires used to train with us for years because he was bored. I doubt he paid us a single cent to do so.

I think it’s just a classy thing from the club to support players near or post retirement.

You can though that’s the thing, I guarantee other clubs would. It’s not a massive deal but he wouldn’t be getting in the building if it was up to me.

I imagine this is frequent at a lot of clubs. David Beckham once trained here despite being a Manc during the intense rivalry (that still existed) between the clubs.

Not really much to sweat over.

Ox saved us from ourselves with his Liverpool flirting and pocketed us 40m into the bargain. Have no ill will towards him at all

Wenger would have given him the Walcott treatment. New 5 year contract 200k a week.

Weren’t there reports at the time that Wenger was really upset that Chamberlain wanted to leave?

The clearest sign that the football had left Wenger

that game against Liverpool, where he purposefully didn’t give a fuck, cause he was signing with them soon after, will always leave a sour taste for me.

we shouldn’t be letting mediocrity anywhere near our grounds tbh.

Impossible to forget the poor body language showed before the exit - especially at Anfield against Liverpool - because unhappy to play as wingback.
