I think he’s talking about 2011 when fe first used Cult Of Personality in WWE.

That makes even less sense

It’s ok, it makes sense in my head.

You guys think he meant 2005, I think he’s referring 2011 because that’s when I think he was first introduced to Punk and was approached about the song.

He literally said “when Punk was first going to WWE”

Why are you acting like it’s an equally valid interpretation to think he meant something completely different to what he said?

Because I don’t think he knows the timeline of when Punk joined WWE and those details.
It really isn’t that deep.

You think he thinks Punk joined WWE for the first time in the middle of the hottest run of Punk’s career?

These are some amazing mental gymnastics to try and keep your bizarre interpretation alive.

Is he a wrestling fan? Because if he isn’t, I don’t think he would know these things.
I never heard that he is. You know that he is?

He knows enough to know his music was being used for a popular wrestler in WWE, who he’d licensed music to before.

To say nothing of the fact WWE were definitely not trying to get him a knock off theme in 2011 when he’d already had a licensed theme for 5 years plus at that point.

In 2006 WWE still had the fumes and legacy of the monday night wars and attitude era that was massive, non-fans can reference stuff in wrestling from that time.

They talked about changing his music back 2011 awhen he was gonna return and Punk insisted on Cult Of Personality.

I think that’s fair for big events and big names.

I think to know that CM Punk signed with WWE in 2005 is another thing. He initially started in OVW too before moving to ECW.

Smart fans knew who he was but I don’t think he was a known entity to non-fans as you say till much later.
I think his name was starting to get more established with his feuds with Jeff, Taker and Rey. Obviously he went into another level in 2011.

There’s no way bringing him back in the summer of 2011 when he was the hottest thing in wrestling with a knockoff of Cult of Personality was ever suggested.

In 2005 however, they definitely would have done it, as they did for people like Rob Van Dam and the Sandman.

People hate/disappoint watched WWE for years after 2001. It took a long time for people to give it up. I think I gave up around 2010.

Do you think Punk had enough stock to his name at the time to demand a specific licensed song?

A) I think he thought that
B) he got a licensed song, albeit a less famous one

You’ve confused me here. Are you talking about wrestling fans or non-fans?

Wrestling fans watching(or even hate watching) WWE sounds pretty normal.

I think that’s a fair assumption. And it would fit hit character.

I just don’t think he did.

I think you misunderstand.

You questioned if he was a wrestling fan to remember events like Punk’s debut. I’m saying WWE (Wrestling) had a mainstream appeal (From the Monday Night Wars) that bought in a lot of people that weren’t even wrestling fans. People stuck with the product for years before giving it up. WWE was still pulling a 4.0 rating on occasion in 2006. It’s not outlandish to suggest he referencing 2005/06 in regards to Punk.

Gooooooooal, fuck you Unai!!!
