I can’t think of any other major sports or entertainment industry where this isn’t an accepted part of the career. It happens.
Also, I qualified it by saying these are cuts that if you have to make, are the right ones.

Alvarez saying there will be a lot of cuts in NXT.
Show was already fucked after Ali got released when he was supposed to have a title match with Dominik, I can see more wrestlers getting released that are actively in a storyline.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a wrestler receive so much love after getting released ever.
Truly earned the “your favourite’s favourite” tag.
Be interesting to see what he does next. He was always gonna leave eventually because tagging with his brother was in his bucket list and that wouldn’t have happened in WWE.
I presume he’ll be getting lots of offers. If he wants to continue wrestling, he shouldn’t commit to anything long-term.
Massive overachiever.
Getting cut sucks though. Especially in that industry.
I don’t think he would have expected it in the past and I reckon it would have never happened under the previous regime.
The guy tried to leave multiple times from 2015 onwards and they kept throwing him the money bag every time that came up.
There are a couple of contracts up soon as well including Miz, Sheamus, Drew, Knight and others.
I saw some reports recently suggest they’re far apart money wise with most of them.
Seeing how penny pinching UFC got under this regime, I expect more of the same in WWE.
I think the true draws in the company will get the big money but I think the days where people got paid massive figures to be around are over.
I think Edge going to AEW is partly down to that. I think whatever offer WWE made him wasn’t anywhere near his previous one and AEW would gladly offer him similar or better terms to join them instead.
His brother is in AEW isn’t he? Might be the next step.
I also think he’ll be in the Hall of Fame in the fullness of time. I think he’ll also be someone who will have an association with WWE in years to come, wouldn’t be surprised to see him signed to a legends deal when he’s done wrestling.
Matt Riddle now also released.
I know people who were hopeful RKBro was getting together once Randy was back and was gonna challenge for the titles at Mania. Welp.
I don’t think Riddle was an economic release. He’d sabotaged himself multiple times especially with that nonsense where he accused the police officer of assault.
I know AEW can’t (or shouldn’t) hire all these releases but Riddle would be an outstanding get for them.
Tuuuuuuuune
Sounds like Taker ain’t a fan of AEW.
Also, big pop for MJF still being a loyal Cornette listener.

That did look fake.
Just caught up with Grand Slam.
Apart from the shocking conclusion to the Moxley match (which we all agree was total shit by all parties- for a way to end a match like that, watch JBL v Eddie on YouTube to conclude a match they had on Smackdown), it was the best Dynamite in years.
Every match had something about it. Kingston v Claudio, Storm v Sarayya, and MJF v Joe. All very good.
Funny that’s also all I enjoyed tlk. Wouldn’t say the best Dynamite in years but it was better than last year’s Grand Slam and one of the best Dynamites in recent months.
Claudio and Kingston stole the show for me. Joe v MJF I was a bit put off to be quite honest. Getting a bit fed up with MJF over the top theatrics. Joe was out there being a killer and MJF just made it a bit corny.
I also didn’t like how they sold MJF going with a neck injury, Joe delivering every move imaginable to damage his neck further, including a piledriver on the exposed floor, only for MJF to kick out of 2, like peak PG Cena.
Not sure if you checked it out yet but Collision was great, even better than Dynamite. One of the best episodes since that early run with Punk at the helm. A stacked card and everything delivered.
Is that the Collision after the Grand Slam Dynamite? I think it’s on ITV4 on Wednesday night.
Yes.
Speaking of current wrestling. Smackdown was great last week too. Lots of good wrestling. Asuka v Iyo was nice.
I know it wasn’t popular but I liked the angle they shot with Cena being taken out by whatever is left of the Bloodline.
WrestleDream and No Mercy this weekend. The former features Bryan Danielson v ZSJ.
They’re going hard for Danielson’s final year as a full-time competitor. I do fear he won’t last though given how susceptible he’s been to injuries since coming to AEW.
