At least Kallstrom scored an important pen to keep a cup run going.
Willian never did anything for Arsenal of note. No big games, assists or goals that led to a big win.

Did they give big contracts to Cedric and Mari after the Willian debacle? Canât remember the exact timeline.
What the club needs is a seasoned DOF that can help the next manager. Having guys learn on the job shouldnât be how a club of the supposed stature of Arsenal operates.
We gave him a 15 fucking million signing on fee and 200 thousands pounds a week for a 3 year contract, thatâs an investment of 45m on fucking Willian. Iâm guessing out of that 45m, heâd take at least 35m out of the club.
Diabolical if those numbers are accurate. That along with the Cedric and Mari deals should show that Edu/Arteta arenât very sharp in the market for spotting talent or spending wisely. Throw in 80 million for average English talents like White and Ramsdale and the pattern is not a good one.
The ASL & Ode deals look like good business, tbf.
Sorry, no one will ever beat Silvestre.
As you knowâŚwe had to make a decision on whether to permanently sign Cedric and Mari before the end of the season and before we knew whether we would have European football. I still donât think either player represents a bad signing. Neither are starters IMO, but they are good back up options to have in the squad. I donât think it is fair to compare the Willian transfer to Cedric and Mari.
Theyâre just very expensive warm bodies basically. What is the point of having backups that are consistently below average when called upon?
Everybody knew Cedric and Mari were not even EL standard players before we signed them. Kia scammed Edu on Willian and Cedric definitely.
The issue is now these guys are on upwards of ÂŁ50k+ p/w
Who cares? Theyâre unreliable and thatâs the worse part about intentionally signing backups. You canât rely on them for one match nevermind several. We played the likes Kolasinac and Mustafi in the Europa groups and we looked like absolute shit against very low class opposition. They shouldâve never been loaned and never signed after the fact.
As far as Iâm aware thereâs still nothing conclusive of whether heâs on 100k or 200k per week.
100k and I think Mustafi is the worst deal, shortly followed by Xhaka and then probably Willian.
200k and he definitely takes the lead on that
I think Mikel Arteta is doing his best to get on top of that list.
Mariâs worse and will continue to do more damage to us while Willianâs living it up in Brazil.
Why canât Edu just follow Willian back there too.
It could be that the basic wage is a hundred grand but the signing on fee when added on to the wages spread out over 3 years make his yearly earnings around 10m. Which on a 3+1 year deal means Arsenal were willing to invest 40m on him over 4 years.
What are your sources for these figures?
I canât see that weâre paying Willian significantly more than Chelsea did when it wasnât more money he wanted it was a longer contract than Chelsea were prepared to offer him.
Just seems to me that someone has invented a figure of ÂŁ200k a week and itâs just being used despite there being no evidence of it being true.
All I want to know is when are we changing the thread title to (almost fucked out)?
Yeah, thanks for all the âhelpâ these last couple years Kia.
The way Brazilian clubs work, I think Willian will have much of his salary paid by sponsors and other third parties.
Dani Alves, Ronaldinho, Roberto Carlos are just some of the big names who went back to Brazil when they could still have played in Europe and got rewarded with good enough deals financially to convince them do it.
Corinthians âweâll take him off your hands, no problemoâ
AFC âhow about a pie and chips - that pretty much sums up Willian at this pointâ
Corinthians âforget the food, we plan to starve him⌠but we donât have any money to pay him, so you guys have to pay his wages still, but at least you wonât have to look at his pot belly any moreâ
AFC âHow about 50/50?â
Corinthians âHow about you give him a rise and then pay him still?â
AFC âpie?â
The base wages are 100K, which is 20K less than what Chelsea used to pay him, but we have apparently given him 15m as a signing on fee divided into 3 years, 5m each year. which when added to the wages, accounts for an additional 100K taking the total to 200K. I donât think it is an unrealistic figure for a free agent like Willian considering we pay Kolasinac a 100 grand and whatever else we paid him as a signing on fee.
