So the “very expensive player” we’re after is Kieran Tierney for £25m. Cool :kos2:

Some won’t work out, some will. Signing promising younger players is absolutely what Arsenal should be doing nearly every transfer window.

If Arsenal are going to adhere to a self-sustaining model, it seems imperative to take this approach and have some of them pan out if the club is serious about trying to compete for a PL title.

TBF, a window that brings in Tierney, Saliba (next year), Ceballos (only for this year), and Martinelli isn’t terrible… the main issue is that no outgoings and therefor no CB replacement for THIS year.

I like the fact that it is all forward thinking, strategic buys (other than Ceballos)… we need more, obviously, but I reckon if we finally jettison one or two we might see another incoming.

Heathens in this thread do not understand the difference in truth value.

ps. anyone who remembers this one is an awesome person and you should buy yourself some candy because you’re worth it.

IDK I think that’s a pretty bad transfer window considering we’ll still have Mustafi lining up for us in defense every week until Holding is fit.

Its not great and that is the most diabolical part of it, I agree; however, I suspect we will see one more departure at least (Koss, Bielek, can hope Moose, etc…) and that will bring in another the other way - at least that is what I am factoring in.

Oh it sounds pretty terrible to me.

Upgrading Kolasinac with a player that AFAIK is still injured, replacing Ramsey (I guess?) for one year, and a kid who will most likely not play a league match.

If all those deals happen then as it stands Mustafi, Xhaka, Iwobi, Ozil, and Mkhitarayan are as important to our squad as they were last year.

It feels like the bare minimum to not regress, but no steps forward.

I think if you would have said, before the window opened, that the only new players playing for us next season would be Tierney and Martinelli and maybe Caballos on loan, most supporters would have been rightly very angry.

I can remember most saying a top quality CB, LB and winger, would have been the bare minimum, and that’s not including a replacement for Ramsey.

Like you say, having Mustafi playing for us next season is an insult and should haver been the first transfer to be sorted out.
Even more so now Kos has said he wants to leave.

“Isn’t terrible” is a pretty low standard lol… and I think (as I said) that b/c we will see one or two departures at least (given Koss situation), we will see one more beyond what we are talking about coming in.

Ceballos, Tierney, Zaha and another CB not named Mustafi(that be a returning Chambers I don’t mind) sets us right in contention for 3rd imo.
Above Chelsea for sure, marginally better than Man Utd and potentially on the same level with the bottlers. No excuse for us to not qualify back to the UCL.
