Zaha - Auba - Pepe

Need a CB? Fuck that, let’s just buy two wingers and a striker!

Don’t do that, don’t give Zaha hope.

But but…if this is true…what happens to iwobi :santi: :henry2:

I mean the thought of going into next season with Zaha and Pepe bombing down either wing is a pretty spectacular thought lol

Sacrifice Laca to make this happen

Yup

Its wanking material but Ornie said it isn’t happening

If we were effectively exchanging one for Zaha, I would probably sell Auba before Laca just due to age and contract.

The track record of Premier League strikers after 30 is a nightmare. Auba losing a step and turning to crap is one of the biggest risks we face. And we’re probably going to have to sell him next summer anyway since he’ll then be entering the final year of his deal.

I’d much rather sacrifice Auba tbh

Why would you sacrifice our top goalscorer to accommodate a man with a Giroud level output of goals?

Auba is a 20+ goal a season striker the idea of sacrificing him for a man with an output like Lacazette is insanity.

We’re supposed to be scoring more goals not taking them out of the team.

Rather we sign Zaha and get rid of MIkhytaryan and/or Iwobi.

I hear you but there are real questions about how long Auba can be a 20+ goal a season striker. Lots and lots of premier league strikers have gone to shit fairly quickly once they hit 29-30. Auba could be an exception and maybe his body has taken less punishment because he didn’t play in the EPL most of his career. But its a big risk.

Zaha is not worth sacrificing either for. He’s a level down and we don’t need anymore options up top.

To be fair, Ornstein said 18 days ago that Pepe wasn’t happening.

Personally, I find this hard to believe, but it’s been a crazy summer.

This Sam Cunningham who reported that Arsenal is still pursuing Zaha sounds familiar (and not because I’m confusing him with Sam Bam Cunningham, the running back for USC and the Patriots in the 70s). He used to write for one of the papers, I think, but I can’t remember which one.

I agree with the general spirit of the Auba > Laca posts but comparing him to Giroud is just so disrespectful. It ignores the fact that he equaled Girouds best season out of 5 in an Arsenal shirt doing it all not as the main option but sharing the load more often than not with Auba. It ignores the fact that he is far superior than Giroud in every other facet of the game aside from those goal and assist numbers which are as good as Girouds best season in 5 and far better than his general averages.

In short, they’re not in the same conversation.

Auba > Laca > Mandzukic > fat, post 30 Higuaín, peak Rickie Lambert, Giroud, etc, etc
