I liked it but I also understand why everyone I talk about it stopped watching half way. I think it helps I watched it hungover and had very little else to do other than sit and enjoy it.
Uncut Gems is a brilliant film. Itâs brash, itâs loud, itâs garish.
Iâm surprised @JakeyBoy that you lost interest. Itâs one of those films, for me, that it always looks like itâs building up to a crescendo and it really does!
@AbouCuellar- the other film you mentioned âGood timesâ- is it on NetFlix? Is it better than Uncut Gems?
As long as itâs a hangover without the headache symptoms that makes sense. With a headache it would be seriously aggravating.
Anyways, any âin spoiler tagsâ thoughts about this?
I dunno if itâs on Netflix or not, think I just torrented it as I do most. As to if itâs better than Uncut Gems or not, I havenât really decided, but if you liked Uncut Gems you should definitely watch it.
Agreed
Fellowship of the Ring.
The greatest trilogy of all time imo, and my favourite of the three. Must have watched it all the way through about 30 times. Canât believe weâre approaching 20 years since it was made.
We talked about it a couple months ago when I watched it above.
My thoughts were basically the same as yours, I found the film exhausting to sit through but I loved the ending.
Just watched Mad Max, was pretty good. 7/10
do you mean when he gets shot and the camera sort of pans into the wound? I didnât make too much of that, mate. I thought it was just good cinema.
I mean it starts with his colonoscopy in similar fashion.
Finally got around to watching : Last train to busan, very enjoyable, might check South-korean cinema a bit more.
Rewatched : Training day, after a long time, shitâs as good as the first time.
Got myself Disney + and not seen the final Star Wars film. What the actual fuck was thatâŚnot sure what I expected but it just lacked something.
After Return of the Jedi, they all lacked that spark.
The last 3 Disney ones have been dogshit
Donât mind the new ones really, theyâre good enough for what they are. Think the original trilogy is so totally viewed through the lens of nostalgia that people will overlook any flaws existing in those films in a way they absolutely would never countenance with the new films. Which, I should add, is understandable. Thatâs how these things work, I get it.
Like, Return of the Jedi wasnât even a good film
If the latest Disney installment was the empire being taken down by teddy bears people would go mental.
Hey dude. I watched Good Time. Not as good as Uncut Gems but still a good watch. Thereâs something about the camerawork in these films that gives it an authentic 90s film look.
BlasphemyâŚ
I went to see Return of the Jedi at the cinema the nostalgia runs deep.
I liked it a bit more I think, not quite as blaring as Uncut Gems, but loved the grimey 90s (or 80s, or 70s) feel it had; that said the pay-off at the end of Uncut Gems is really greatâmaybe precisely because youâve sat through all that painâit had me giggling with delight at how completely honest and nihilistic it was.
Thatâs helpful, now I can vividly picture the era this film is set in.
The original trilogy arenât even particularly good if you actually look at the acting, dialogue etc.
A New Hope has some pretty cringe inducing moments throughout but theyâre good fun and definitely get a huge pass due to the nostalgia aspect.
Begone heretic!
One of the best ever. Might rewatch it myself too tonight actually.
