What was the last film you watched?

I liked it but I also understand why everyone I talk about it stopped watching half way. I think it helps I watched it hungover and had very little else to do other than sit and enjoy it.

Uncut Gems is a brilliant film. It’s brash, it’s loud, it’s garish.

I’m surprised @JakeyBoy that you lost interest. It’s one of those films, for me, that it always looks like it’s building up to a crescendo and it really does!

@AbouCuellar- the other film you mentioned ‘Good times’- is it on NetFlix? Is it better than Uncut Gems?

As long as it’s a hangover without the headache symptoms that makes sense. With a headache it would be seriously aggravating.

Anyways, any ‘in spoiler tags’ thoughts about this?

I dunno if it’s on Netflix or not, think I just torrented it as I do most. As to if it’s better than Uncut Gems or not, I haven’t really decided, but if you liked Uncut Gems you should definitely watch it.

Agreed

Fellowship of the Ring.

The greatest trilogy of all time imo, and my favourite of the three. Must have watched it all the way through about 30 times. Can’t believe we’re approaching 20 years since it was made.

We talked about it a couple months ago when I watched it above.

My thoughts were basically the same as yours, I found the film exhausting to sit through but I loved the ending.

Just watched Mad Max, was pretty good. 7/10

do you mean when he gets shot and the camera sort of pans into the wound? I didn’t make too much of that, mate. I thought it was just good cinema.

Got myself Disney + and not seen the final Star Wars film. What the actual fuck was that…not sure what I expected but it just lacked something.

After Return of the Jedi, they all lacked that spark.

The last 3 Disney ones have been dogshit

Don’t mind the new ones really, they’re good enough for what they are. Think the original trilogy is so totally viewed through the lens of nostalgia that people will overlook any flaws existing in those films in a way they absolutely would never countenance with the new films. Which, I should add, is understandable. That’s how these things work, I get it.

Like, Return of the Jedi wasn’t even a good film :man_shrugging:

If the latest Disney installment was the empire being taken down by teddy bears people would go mental.

Hey dude. I watched Good Time. Not as good as Uncut Gems but still a good watch. There’s something about the camerawork in these films that gives it an authentic 90s film look.

Blasphemy…

I went to see Return of the Jedi at the cinema the nostalgia runs deep.

I liked it a bit more I think, not quite as blaring as Uncut Gems, but loved the grimey 90s (or 80s, or 70s) feel it had; that said the pay-off at the end of Uncut Gems is really great–maybe precisely because you’ve sat through all that pain–it had me giggling with delight at how completely honest and nihilistic it was.

That’s helpful, now I can vividly picture the era this film is set in.

The original trilogy aren’t even particularly good if you actually look at the acting, dialogue etc.

A New Hope has some pretty cringe inducing moments throughout but they’re good fun and definitely get a huge pass due to the nostalgia aspect.

Begone heretic!
