EDIT: Nah, it was this:
The one where the satellite gets attacked at the start is Goldeneye. I mis-read.
I hate you now, @Electrifying ⌠sorry bro.
Nah, I really liked Goldeneye.
Maybe I got mixed up between the 2, but tomorrow never dies is the one I mean
The start of that one is where the Brits are about to missile strike an arms sale and Bond jumps in a jet because thereâs nukes there.
Yeah that was quite dark in its depiction of Bond the character wasnt it. Not that long a book as I recall either.
Goldeneye he did his own stunts. It was also the first Bond in about 6 years. It also gave us the best ever game on the N64. Deserves a pass for that.
And a Bond girl who kills people in the raunchiest way ever (still not sure they show Goldeneye on ITV before the watershed)
That Bach girl is Ringo Starrs wife isnt it.
Good man. I donât hate you no more.
Is it? These Scousers really are lucky
Let it be.
Yeah. A short book but a great read. The explanation of Baccarat and the tension really comes through in the book.
You canât really re-create the tension of a card game on the silver screen, hence all that bullshit with Daniel Craig having a cardiac arrest
I remember in like 2000 or 2001 (I was like 8) being really excited about the next Bond film coming out (Die Another Day) and then I saw a pic of Brosnan as Bond with really long hair and a beard and I got really annoyed and didnât wanna see it. Obviously he gets rid of the long hair and beard rather quickly but I wish I never had seen that poxy film.
Die Another Day and The World Is Not Enough are definitely some of the worst films in the franchise, but Goldeneye is the the second best (after Casino Royale) and Brosnan has been the best Bond imo. He was the best all round Bond.
For as many films as there are in the franchise, the high standard and consistency is extremely impressive and almost every one of them is a classic.
I honestly never got the appeal of bond. There are a few decent films in the bunch but overall, meh.
I suppose itâs cos Bond always wins. Itâd be nice for him to be rebuffed by a girl (ânaah, youâre not my typeâ) or to get a summons to the GUM clinic.
With that in mind, I think thatâs why I like On Her Majestyâs Secret Service so much.
He didnât get to boink Olga Kurylenko in Quantum. (But did Gemma Arterton)
I liked Bond films as a child. I think they kind of lost their appeal with the IT age. Used to be all mysterious and all about secrets and information, secret locations just donât make sense with google maps, hiding things just donât make sense with gps tracking etc.
Last good Bond film was Goldeneye, which also gets a +1 for Swedish bond girl:
edit: also had the last epic Bond film song (Tina Turner) imo.
I only remember her for the nod to Goldfinger
One of the best things about the Bond films, is when any of the girls get all excited, "Oh James " and for a brief second, I can just pretend theyâre refering to me :wenger2:
Tomorrow Never Dies is a great Bond film.
With the motherfucking High Sparrow as a Murdoch style villain (defs an underrated Bond villain), it kind of managed to move into the modern world and make it fully work. The bit where he uses his phone to remote control the Beemer is a class set piece. The Desperate Houswife is good for her bit before meeting her tragic end, Michelle Yeoh kills it as the badass Chinese spy. And then youâve got that massive blonde German geezer, heâs a great Bond henchman too.
And itâs got a good opening too with Bond preventing a nuclear disaster by stealing the plane with the missiles before the foolish British Admiralâs missile strikes. Then he ejector seats the guy choking him directly into the enemy plane chasing him before dropping the
âbackseat driverâ
Classic Bond.
