What was the last film you watched?

Die Another Day…and it’s every bit as bad as I remember!

Pulp Fiction probably my favourite.

“Zed’s dead”, Harvey Wolf, John Travolta’s comeback, quarter pounder with cheese etc. Such an incredible classic with so many quotable lines and superb scenes.

Inglorious Basterds probably my second. Christoph Waltz just owned every scene and it was so far out of Tarantino’s usual wheelhouse that it was actually pretty amazing he pulled it off. The tension in the opening scene is unrivalled, second maybe only to the Wind River stand off scene, as well as the three fingers scene with Fassbender.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood my third favourite. That whole film is just one long atmospheric vibe, and you really feel like you’re just cruising around Hollywood in the 60s with your buddy which is what Tarantino was hoping for. I love his take on an alternative history of the Manson killings and again the cast just all kill it - Di Caprio, Pitt, Robbie are all amazing and the younger cast all went on to do big things as well. It’s a movie I’ve watched probably 3 or 4 times and it’s just so easy to rewatch and appreciate it for what it is - it’s sort of just a movie where things happen and the audience are a long for the ride.

I love Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill Vol. 1 as well as Django Unchained A LOT as well. They’re all fantastic films. Shout to True Romance as well.

Jackie Brown, Kill Bill Vol. 2, and Hateful Eight I enjoyed as well, but they just didn’t speak to me in the same way.

I’ve never seen a Tarantino film I didn’t like, will go down as an all time GOAT director regardless of what people think of him personally.

If you’d like to experience that, Death Proof is your best bet lol

I don’t really count Death Proof or Grindhouse as Tarantino movies since multiple directors were attached to them haha

Nah, Death Proof was written and directed by Tarantino, it’s fully his film.

Interesting choices…Bastards was an enjoyable watch, and totally get why you opted for Once Upon A Time In Hollywood as your third choice. I enjoyed it and can respect the film. For me it did feel too long, which is probably my biggest issue with Tarantino’s more recent films. He could really do with a good editor. His films are all consistently good though which is an achievement, and don’t believe what @JakeyBoy says about Death Proof…it’s a good watch!

I thought Grindhouse and Death Proof were double features done with Robert Rodriguez and Rob Zombie?

Death Proof was ok - I didn’t love it, didn’t hate it. Doesn’t really register for me as a Tarantino flick because it seemed like more of some sort of experiment.

Grindhouse was the name of the double feature that contained Death Proof and Planet Terror, two distinct films.

Planet Terror was written and directed by Robert Rodriguez, Death Proof by Tarantino.

Death Proof is as much a Tarantino film as any other.

Grindhouse comprised Death Proof and Planet Terror as two back to back films. However, Grindhouse was never released as intended. Instead the two films were released separately. A bit like Kill Bill, the concept was lost.

Internationally, you’re right, but it actually was released as intended domestically. It doing badly is why the two films were released separately outside the States.

When you say domestically, assume you mean the US? I was thinking about the UK so you may be right. Either way was a shame not to stick with the concept. Similarly to split Kill Bill - I still need to see the new cut

Yeah, it’s an American film, so domestically means the US, internationally means outside the US.

I phrased this sentence as I did to try and help avoid any ambiguity about what “domestically” meant earlier in the post.

Got to disagree, neither film is good, so having to sit through both back to back would be a fucking slog.

I think that’s harsh but each to their own. They are both deliberately over the top and are obviously a nod to exploitation films of the past, which both directors loved, but because of that, they don’t benefit from mass appeal.

I understand the intent and what they were an homage to, I just think both executed that pretty poorly.

Each to their own eh

My in-laws are watching a movie called The Front, starring (but not directed by) Woody Allen.

I’m not, and never have been a fan of this man and his work. Thankfully. Because whilst this film plays out, all I can think about is what a fucking creep this guy is.

Yeah, I’ve never been a Woody Allen fan either.

Just been to see 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple.

Absolutely all the way off the wall fucking mental. I loved it. Strongly recommend even if it’s not your kind of genre.

Would U say it’s better then last year’s or on par?

It’s hard to say, I really liked last year’s and I’m a fan of this one but they are very, very different in my opinion.

I’m not a zombie fan myself, but these films have always been compelling to me. I can imagine someone who is more of a dedicated zombie fan not being as keen.

This one was much more unpredictable and towards the end, without giving anything away, went fully mental.
