What was the last film you watched?

The films are good but the Godfather as a book is absolutely god-tier.

Yesssss! It’s a fantastic book. The description of Johnny Fontaine’s life after/before the wedding of Connie, Sonny Corleone’s love interest, and the brutal revenge dished out on those who assaulted Bonasera’s daughter.

These were all bits the film missed.

Fantastic read. Get on that, too @Phoebica

I read it before watching the film, nothing was ever going to quite measure up after that. Although the film had a bloody good go at it.

The book is v good, one thing I didnt much love was the fixation on Sonny’s massive cock, to the extent that there’s a whole subplot later in the book about his mistress needing to get her genitals fixed cos his monster dong ruined them.

Film did well to just skip that bit lol

Very interesting because I would strongly argue that the ending of that film is completely open to interpretarion, like the end of Inception. Personally I’ve always viewed the ending as Batman dying to save Gotham. Do agree with the MC death scene though…one of the worst but forgive it because of the bad ass action sequence at the end of the film.

Don’t disagree about Christopher Walken in BR but I think that was required as the two other villains were pretty full on, especially De Vito.

I don’t think it is essential, but not sure why you wouldn’t…plus you get the introduction to the car and gadgets and to Scarecrow who features in both TDK and TDKR and the back story to Rachel which is important for TDK.

Godfather films are top tier. Part 1 and 2 are up there with the best of all time. Be interesting to see if you like and which one you prefer. Personally, Part 1 gets my vote.

@DavidHillier not seen the newish cut of Part 3 but want to. I’ve always liked the film. However, next to the other two, it is very average.

I read the bookages ago. It’s excellent but really don’t remember this bit lol

Yeah now I see they are on Paramount +, I’m going to set a time aside and watch. I think I will like them. I already know so many quotes. I blame my parents for never showing me

Are there sexy guys in it?

Speaker of Glazer, anyone seen The Zone of Interest?

I was hoping to catch it on the big screen, but it’s not showing near me.

Not particularly.

There is a point where Gary (Gal) Dove says ā€œfuck off, I’m beautifulā€, though.
