Tez to his mates.
Currently going through the entirety of Stephen King’s work, book by book.
Reading Tommyknockers currently. A book written in the height of King’s cocaine addiction.
Just finished Stephen King’s Fairy Tale, all I can say is it’s fucking excellent.
Is that one of his newer books?
Came out sometime last year
One of the best books he has written in a while. King at his best.
Mythos. Great for learning about Greek Mythology!
Currently running through the Eragon series too.
Συμβουλεύω ἀληθῶς τὴν Ἑλληνικὴν μῦθον.
Heroes is also a good one. Fry has a gift for making the myths easily digestible. If you like this stuff then I’d suggest to read The Iliad and The Odyssey by Homer. Much of Fry’s content is traceable to these and other works such as Hesiod’s Theogony (the birth of the gods as Fry also outlines in Myths).
Been enjoying a few John Le Carre novels over the past year or so.
I fucking love spy shit, especially stuff set in the Cold War era. Even outside of fiction, I think the Cold War is my favourite historical period to read or listen about.
Fry really does have a way with these kinds of books, agreed on that! I’ve heard about the books you have mentioned (lovely covers btw) but never read them. Will certainly be putting those on my ‘to read shelves’.
The audiobooks are great.
If you like this sort of thing try The Golden Ass by Lucius Apuleius, it’s a crazy funny story an easy read once translated into English and has the unique distinction of being the only novel in Latin to survive whole.
When you’re done with those you gotta read Lady in the Lake.
Ultra-Processed People by Chris van Tulleken.
The Silent Patient

Wow that twist at the end was the most unexpected twist I’ve read since I got back into book reading in lockdown.
I was lying in my bed like

Vassal State.
