What are you watching?

Yeah! I just noticed that as well, playing more or less exactly the same character :joy:

It was great because on Friday nights, Harry Enfield used to come on on BBC1 and then Peep Show straight after on ch4

(I’m going back about 12 years, though)

Are you up to date with Supernatural bro? There was a break and I think I was saving the last episode that was released.

Will be great to see Ackles on a show like the Boys. Can be a bit more loose with the bad language. That’s one thing I wish Supernatural had a bit more of tbh

I’m a few episodes behind in this season. I do love it and it’s one of my favourite TV shows but man it’s getting a little long in the tooth now. It’s missing the magic from the earlier seasons to be honest, it actually felt darker and more mature back then. I’m glad they are putting it to rest but it’s the sort of show I just keep watching because I love the style.

Wouldn’t say no to revamp in a few years like they tried with X files. I definitely agree it would be awesome if they made it a little more mature. The themes are dark but it feels a little hamstrung by TV parental ratings or something. Perhaps a platform like Netflix or Prime would put a fresh coat of paint on it down the road, that would be cool, follow new hunters in the same universe. Though then again part of the reason the show has survived so long is because of Sam and Dean and the peripheral cast being so good.

I watched up to almost the end of Season 12 of Supernatural but then I just couldn’t anymore, it just got too ridiculous and shit. I really hated the British men of letters.

To be honest it was on a serious downward slide from season 6/7 but I kept watching and it’s still one of my all time favourite shows.

Are they on season 15 or so now?

Yeah, the first few seasons were really good - dark and atmospheric. The initial encounters with demons made you feel like they had no chance, was really quite chilling. Then the way they introduced angels - was really, really well done. We got trickles and snippets of angels / demons at the beginning which was perfectly done imo. By season 15, you’re just absolutely desensitised to both.

The storylines got more and more ridiculous as they ran out of ideas, basically. You had Azazel and Lillith first (I think) then they just kept rolling out another random baddie from the depths of hell. Should have ended it on the Amara / Darkness season (whenever that was?).

Too pot committed to abandon watching now. The Winchesters, particularly Dean, carry the show. Still has that same lonely / brooding outlook on the hunter life, still taking care of his brother Sammy. I lost a lot of interest when Crowley was written out of the show though. Probably my second favourite character. Castiel has been consistent but this Jack stuff is just not that gripping for me. The previous dude who played Death was fantastic too. There are still good episodes but nothing really surprises you anymore. Looking forward to how they finally end it, though. Apparently there is a “retrospective” hour long episode to air before the finale.

Totally agree man, and with Cristo. I can understand why the latter seasons are difficult for people to watch as they do develop into complete nonsense at times, the alternate universe did my head in and I’m not feeling the Jack arcs either. They’ve got themselves into a meta mess with the God saga.

As you say the shock of the show is gone, they bring back every peripheral character they kill off and it’s all a little stale. You don’t even really get any of the classic funny episodes anymore like when Gabriel used to mess with Sam and Dean.

Film is better than I remember!

It has Leo in. He does not make bad films.

The Man In the Iron Mask is his worst film I think. But it’s still not rubbish. It’s not embarrassing. He won’t look back on his career and think “what the fuck was I thinking?!”

I also think Django is a shit film without Leo

He was magnficently scene-stealing in that

That flim with the wolves he was in was good.

Think that’s the last time I went to see a film of his in the cinema
