Just need Liverpool to hammer them 6-0 and we’ll be set.
As this league has shown over and over, unless you’re City or Liverpool you can’t take any result for granted. There aren’t any easy games and its very easy to play well and not get the points due to VAR and bad luck or to play shit and get the points for the same reasons.
All that said, the next two games set up very nicely for us and if we can win both of them then we will almost certainly go into the NLD in a fantastic position. I’m greedy so I want to go into that game 4 or more points ahead so we have it in our hands even if we lose. And I think that’s a virtual lock if we can just beat a tired and rotatated and CB-less West Ham and then a home match against a Leeds side whose naivete should play into our hands.
Agree. Next two games are key. if we win both and Spurs lose against Liverpool, we will go into NLD with 5 points ahead…
Spurs will be under all kind of pressure before NLD and imagine we finish them off in NLD.
but as of now, West ham game is key.
You can say that for Spurs too tbf.
I don’t think anyone could complain anymore about this if we get wins against both West Ham and Leeds (a win and a draw would not be bad either). In the bigger picture, 10-12 points across Crystal Palace, Brighton and Hove Albion, Southampton, Chelsea, Manchester United, West Ham United and Leeds United overall is a good outcome.
This kind of hindsight just takes away the point of the 38 game season to me.
You could also say if we’d beaten United like we should the first time, and then not fucked up Vs Everton after, and not let Brentford smack us, and got a point against Chelsea rather than roll over, and then suddenly we would be on 80 points. Basically if we weren’t a flawed team that fucked up a few times a season, we’d be a really good team - well no shit
If we win 2 of those 3 games maybe under less pressure we don’t turn up in quite the same way against Chelsea and get all 3 points, and maybe that lack of Chelsea bounce doesn’t give us that edge to get the win against United.
Football isn’t just a sequence of isolated events. They may all be 3 points on the line, but we were in need of those points more when we faced Chelsea and we delivered. That’s what makes it joyous.
No way Spurs will win 4 out of 5 games.
Meaning a Play-Off would be required at a neutral venue to decide who finishes 4th
That would be very cool
They go on about this mysterious fourth place playoff every year lol.
It’ll become a thing soon
They need to actually make a 4th place trophy then.
Wenger’s dream in reality
If you’re a fan of putting undue strain on your heart. Not sure my ticker would fancy it.
That would be unfair to spurs, they would never win it
I crave that level of excitement and pressure in sport, makes following the game far more compelling.
Pretty sure the final episode of all of nothing would be the most viewed ever too lol
Fair enough. Generally speaking, I can sympathise, but in the case of Arsenal, give me “achieving our aims with no heart attacks” every day of the week.
As if Norwich would only concede 1 goal
Finish 4th but potentially not get the prize of finishing 4th?
What kind of sadistic shit is this
Wouldn’t we get top 4 based off alphabetical order if that freaky shit happens? Or even head to head?
I actually knew about this play-off thing only because of football manager.
If we’re on the same points, it goes to goal difference and if that’s the same then it’s which team scored the most PL goals.
After that it’s who has won St Totteringhams day the most.
