Viktor Gyökeres

This is a very good representation of their finishing imo.

Obviously some bad misses and some good goals on both sides, but for me Gyokeres more than obviously simply shows more ability. More ability to get himself into a good position and a good angle to shot when he’s not in one right away, has more skill and athleticism.

Sesko looks good in some situations when he’s through on goal or has a clean shot first time, he does have a wicked shot, but doesn’t show too much ability to dribble, switch direction, twist and turn, make something happen when he’s not going directly on goal.
And obviously Gyokeres simply looks a better finisher, even with all those misses. All the best stikers have plenty of those, including Suarez, Lewandowski etc. The main thing is they know how to get onto those chances and make them on a regular basis.

Tracks with Sesko having much poorer shot creating action numbers and Gyokeres having excellent numbers in comparison. Gyokeres is much better at creating for himself.

Sesko sits at 1.73 per game and Gyokeres is at 5.01 per game

And before people moan about the league see his competition in the Bundesliga - Ekitike 3.59, Kane 3.24, Kramarić 3.92 , Guirassy 2.27, Kleindienst 2.27, Burkardt 2.26, and Demirović 2.21 all have better numbers.

We’re not talking all stars here and Sesko is still 25th percentile

I think he is hugely mis-profiled by some and he isn’t what some think he is. He isn’t really a silky all round player at all, not even close.

If we were to take 2 out 3, who would it be?

  • Sesko
  • Lookman
  • Gyok

Let’s be honest, it’d be a disgraceful window if we only ended up with 1.

Yeah yeah but let’s ask the real questions around here.

How many headers does he score?

All I know is that even Havertz is sitting on 2.56 per game brudder

Why have you decided that it is absolutely essential that we sign two of those three specific players?!

All those stats just comfirm what I said and always thought about him even more than I thought they would.

I just can’t understand what is supposed to be so exciting about his potential when you look at his overall skillset and the difference he makes (or doesn’t) on the pitch, even if you ignore a pretty mediocre goal record.

He seems like the Evan Ferguson of the Bundesliga really.

I was out for my run today and stopped by to watch the local U17 league.

The striker scored and did the Gyökeres celebration.

This guy is the real deal.

I don’t think he’s much better than Delap if at all tbh

He isn’t a skilful player, is pretty barren creatively too

Yes, he’s tall and athletic but he isn’t dynamic with the ball at his feet

You don’t really improve that as you get older either so yeah like I’ve said he seems a good young striker talent but nothing special for his age, take away his good finishing against his xg and you’ve got a fairly limited player both from what I’ve seen and also running numbers

If isak is avail for 120m or Gyok for 70m, which then?

I would still probably go for Isak honestly, if you can really get him for 120M.
20M more than Rice doesn’t seem too bad for the best PL 9 aside Haaland, and no doubt one of the best 9s in the game now. If you can’t do that I’d take the gamble with Gyok. Sesko is just another random XYZ potential future 9 for me, not even an option atm.

Taking a wild guess that he thinks Lookman is a striker so he’s essentially saying we need to sign 2 strikers this summer.

I think it is very unlikely Isak would be sold this summer, even if the player wants a move. Newcastle seem likely to finish in the top 5 now.

I completely get why you and @Darkseid favour a move for Gyokeres. On paper he is probably the obvious choice out of the available strikers on the market. For me, something doesn’t feel right though still, whether that’s the fact no other big clubs moved for him last summer, that he may not be able to replicate his goal scoring form in the PL, and the fact he doesn’t score many headed goals. Sesko may be raw and younger, but my gut says he is the one we should be looking at.

That said, if it was down to me, a top quality winger would be my priority in the summer.

You’re being gut over eye test and numbers, that’s some way to go about it

I’m thankful Berta won’t be operating like that.

Whether other clubs went after him means nothing to little to me, clubs get it wrong all the time. I don’t want a project who isn’t even necessarily better than what we already have

If we’re going to spend over 150m on a striker and LW, it would be a lot better to go for Gyokeres and a top quality LW than spending most of our budget on Isaak and an adequate winger who’s not much better than Martinelli.

Don’t you think it’s strange that no one else was in for him? I mean we are not the only big club that desperately needs a striker…why did no one make a move for him? I just find it odd.

Looking at it gyokeres.is much better than sesko

I don’t really care to be honest because I’ve seen enough of the player to know he’s a quality striker point blank

That kind of stuff doesn’t sway me at all

It wasn’t like there was a huge number of striker openings for the few teams that could afford to pay a circa £85m release clause too

Hmm they seem to be the three names being mentioned most in the rumours it seems.

Lookman is a winger right?

Primarily, yes.
