Let’s not call people names now.
How much better is Bundesliga? Same can be said of that league
Bundelisga tax is no longer a thing? And isn’t like Sesko is lighting that league up is it
Also Gyökeres scored in the Champions league well enough
Sesko I think has played 8 games in the CL, scored 4 and has no assists.
Gyokeres has played 8 games in the CL, scored 6 and assisted 1.
Think this might be key in the summer. Berta may well want to make his mark early and get through a tried and tested striker in Gyokeres and I’m sure the Arsenal board will veto this to show support. It could put the Sesko transfer to the side, even with the longstanding interest.
For what it’s worth, no matter how much Arteta wants Isak, Berta or the club need to be reasonable and not have that transfer drag things on and we miss out on targets.
This is key. Whoever we want, we must act quickly this summer and secure our targets!
It was me…and agree it was interesting. Hopefully we move quickly from no set target to, clear targets in order of priority.
This guy is definitely an upgrade to what we currently have, eye test says he will do well here surrounded by better players !?
A lot of players failed this.
Playing for a “better” team does not guarantee better performance.
Better environment and setup are far more important.
Our environment and set-up are better than where he currently is ?!
Do you know what Arteta wants?
From what we have seen, he needs our forwards to do a lot of track back, off the ball running and help defending.
Will this affect Gyokeres’ performance in the final third?
Time will tell, if he does join.
True, but we haven’t had a proper striker for ages. Maybe he’ll not want the same things from Gyokeres. Maybe he’ll have Zubimendi and Rice cover for him.
They do raise valid points about Gyökeres’s style of play as does he tend to drift wide, which is less compatible with our positional style of play.
Sesko seems the better fit for this Arsenal side. Given the focus on attacking through wide areas and delivering into the box, having a forward who’s strong in the air makes more sense.
Maybe we need to change our style of play
The way everyone has to be in designated zones is whack tbh, far too rigid
Maybe, but that’s not likely to happen.
There’s truth to that, but again, it’s Arteta’s way. We’re seeing some issues with Nwaneri, who’s being asked to play high and wide, even though the strongest parts of his game come when he’s allowed to drift centrally and receive in the pockets.
Given what we know about Arteta and the mentality of these positional coaches, Gyökeres would have to adapt and maintain a more central presence. That’s not his strength or certaintly hasn’t been his style in Portugal.
If it’s not likely to happen then we aren’t winning a major trophy under him, I’ve seen enough of this crap
It’s odd even in that crappy video they talk as if players can’t adapt or follow instructions, as if he can’t play more central?
Arteta is the one that really needs to adapt because this ain’t it chief
If Arsenal doesn’t add more threat from the left side and more variety in our game, then it will be another season of good first half followed by teams figuring Arsenal out in second half of the season.
Of course he could adapt, but how would that impact his game? I’d expect fewer rampaging runs and more time spent playing with his back to goal.
I do think Gyökeres is the better player right now, but it’s harder to picture Arsenal getting the best out of him.
Henry drifted to the left and so did Benzema, we shouldn’t sign those dudes because they don’t fit Artetas lame system?
He’s not flexible or creative and it shows time and time again
We’re really talking about aerial prowess as major factor here or back to goal, who’s really the issue ?
Havertz has scored 1 header in the PL this season and contrary to popular belief in terms of attacking phases he isn’t great in the air, most of his aerial prowess shows in defence.
Does Sesko play with his back to goal for Leipzig? He plays in a two right. How’s he gonna be as the sole striker?
And when Barcelona signed Henry, they mostly used him on the left. Positional coaches
I’ve been critical of certain aspects of our play under Arteta, but with his position clearly secure, it makes sense to bring in players who better suit his style.
That hasn’t stopped Arsenal from creating those types of chances for him. Havertz being poor in the air is exactly why signing Sesko makes sense to some extent.
There’ll be a period of adaptation no matter which striker we choose, but I think it’d be less tricky with Sesko. Sesko younger and so the scope for improvement is larger, and it’s probably easier to mould his game given his age.
And how long is molding him going to take? Our window to win the league is right now can’t be said to be the case in 3-4 seasons, some are taking it for granted.
We keep going this way we won’t be winning anything major
If this guy can’t adapt then I think we may have peaked already.
Exactfuckingly this.
Any player Arsenal are planning to bring in this summer has to contribute right away.
We have gone 5 seasons without winning any trophy after spending so much and after playing so well.
Having your primary striker go through a development phase while rest of the squad is at their prime will just undermine all the work Arteta has put in so far.
