Gyokeres has shown he can score serious amounts in the Championship, Champions League. Portuguese league and internationally. The problem might just be our tactics.
Nah the problem is he just sucks, no standout attribute, only good when he’s in a league with heaps of space and has a physical advantage over defenders, put him in any team in the prem and he’d suck.
33rd outta 33 for loss possession rate out of any striker in the league with 500+ mins
28th for duels won
30th for duels won in the air.
When has he scored serious amounts of goals in the CL?
Scored a couple of pens vs city when he got a hat-trick, assume that’s what they mean.
He was also only 40 in 97 in the championship tbh @SRCJJ
Chamakh gets unwarranted hate imo. He came in for the times when RvP got injured which he did throughout his time here apart from his final 22 months where he turned into one of Europe’s premium striker.
He was also a free transfer if i can remember and didnt cost 60 odd million.
I would argue Gyokeres hasn’t got closed to them first few months where Chamakh was flying for us
Gyokeres definitely has better hair than Chamakh did though.
Ten goals in fourteen appearances is prolific. So, granted, prolific might have been a better choice of word than suggesting he’d scored loads.
I don’t understand how anyone can be as big as Gyokeres is, yet can’t hold up the ball to save his life.
Shot power, accuracy, finishing - 10/10.. Zero complaints there…
But the actual fundamentals of what makes a decent footballer, he just doesn’t have.
Yeah Adriano was pretty good when it came to those. What about Gyokeres?
Referred to as Arsenal’s “forgotten man" if I remember correctly?
I don’t disagree with what you say. I think he was highly regarded at Bordeaux and started well at Arsenal. I remember his two goals in the 7-5 win against Reading in the League Cup.
Cause just being big isn’t enough. If your touch is shittier than dog shit, your physical size won’t matter.
Yeah but he occupies defenders, he’s a handful!
I reckon he’s the got to be one of the easiest strikers to play against in the league lol
Mate that Wolves striker that came on in the 20th minute caused Gabriel and Saliba way more hassles than what Gyokeres did do whatever CB pairing wolves had.
This guy fucking sucks, Havertz is so much better in every facet bar shooting, but Gyokeres is rarely good enough to get shots off in this league for it to matter.
I think he’s quite comfortably the worst striker I’ve ever seen play for Arsenal in a proper starting capacity.
Obviously we had rubbish like Sanogo but he doesn’t count as he was never a proper starter.
Honestly I’m struggling to even work out if he has a good shot, there’s been so few.
Penalties, that’s the only thing that I can say he’s good at.
I actively hope he’s sold in the summer. Just cut our losses, admit it didn’t work and never will, and get someone else in.
No shame in getting a transfer like this wrong, I think pretty much all of us knew it was a big risk bringing in a 27 year old who basically has only ever banged in Portugal. It was a roll of the dice, it didn’t work, whatever.
Glad we gave something a go instead of signing nobody.
A team further down the league that plays on the break or in a more route one way might get more out of him.
Really sad but he is really bad.
Need to sell
