Video technology (VAR) in football

A human is ALWAYS going to have to make a decision ya know lmaooo, especially on tackles and violent intent ect. Offside can be fixed and so can hand ball ect but it won’t because politics.

You don’t always use all the tools though because you have no need.
Don’t need too change the instructions too use all of them.
If you need a screwdriver you use a screwdriver. Can leave the fucking hammer and saw at home.

If you are unable to do the job without mistakes, then you better carry all those tools to give yourself a better chance.

Saw this on Twitter re the Eredivisie. The PL should give it a go.

Ah yes more rules and lines, that’s what is needed.

Not more rules tho, but better lines.

So Pepe got sent off for this, but United only get a yellow?? :joy::joy:

Especially considering Fred already should have had one (or maybe even a second) yellow card before this incident. Horrible refereeing.

For those who watch other leagues that it is in…does VAR cause as many problems there as it does in the PL?

It’s not this bad in the USA but we have a tradition of using video review in football (US style), baseball and basketball.

It’s been a bit of a farce in La Liga too with inconsistencies in how its used and how decisions are arrived at.

I feel that opinion is swinging heavily against it here, but imagine the FA will push back on calls to remove it completely. It seems to suck all the life out of football with the way it’s being used

You remove VAR and the first huge wrong call by referee that’s made and everybody comes out to say “this doesn’t get missed if we have VAR”.

It isn’t going anywhere.

Yeah definitely. And its used perfectly well in other sports so no reason why it can’t also be used in football.

Its remit just needs to be better defined and more consistenly applied, and the advantage should always go to the attacker when judging offside calls (as it should do!)

This is part of football issue though. The other sports knew what and why they needed it. Basically most use it for clarification, football has far too many vagaries and interpretations.
You have to start from your own rule book for this too be implemented properly.
Your adjusting rules now too fit th VAR narrative.

American football has had it 20 years now and they still don’t know how to use it lmao. Its great for yes or no calls like maybe for Tennis where the ball is in or out, but for football with so many variables, no.

Garbage call on Abrahams goal. The linesman everyday of the week on that. Real time better view than that mocked up lines drawn still. Nobody would of even questioned it.
Fucking gimmick.

You can call it garbage call all you want but it was a correct decision. He was onside.

On that still if you ponder long enough and get your crayons out.
Im backing a linesman call in real time everyday of the week.

I will never understand why VAR has to review a call like the pen we got. The ref was about 6 yards from the incident with a clear view. Why should VAR be allowed potentially overrule that?

Which was a wrong call
