Upcoming Video Games

I do. Without ‘killer apps’/exclusives they won’t be optimising games for the console. This means you’ll get Xbox One level graphics that are slightly enhanced, like they are on PC. I can guarantee you PS5 with exclusives will have the better graphics in game than games made for both X Box Series X and Xbox One. And that’s despite the fact Series X has a better graphics engine than PS5

Yeah i reckon cyber punks graphics will be only slightly better on the series x than the One s.

Considering the absolutely major leap between my S and X when the components are not as big a difference.

And i agree, sorry I misread a bit, ps5 exclusive will look better in the immediate future, but i personally don’t care as I dont like their exclusive games or controllers. But it will catch up. If I can play with my friends on the OG xbox one then it makes it worth while

I read somewhere that the next gen will be even more PC like when it comes to development, so I definitely think that we will see ingame options to up the graphics and maybe even the frame rates depending on console version. In this Regard I think for the money the Series X will be an absolute beast of a console however like i said before, personally I think the PS5 is the one to watch.

I’m very impressed with Sony this time round, because their actually going for something different instead of just a raw upgrade on components. The whole IO complex is just amazing, Sony have gone about trying to eliminate all the ways which data could be bottle necked, building custom chips which handle the RAM, GPU, SSD and Audio, leaving the CPU to deal with gaming tasks instead of everything. For me I think Sony’s variable clock speeds I.e running in boost mode, then slightly dropping when there is no need for the extra power or to curb overheating will be better in regards to performance and in the long run in regards to thermal’s, energy use and sound. Having had this feature on both my MBP and Razer laptop I can say that in real life use you will absolutely not notice it happening, it drops and boosts so quick that you would need specialised software to see it. Factor in 3D Audio, better than consumer level SSD, better than consumer level RAM and the overall experience is going to be much better in my opinion, especially when Sony’s first party studios utilise all of these features!

Also just want to add that these features if used by 3rd party developers will mean even the multi plats are better on the PS5. If CD Project red use these custom chips, for a game like Cyberpunk then they will be able to all kinds of madness, especially in regards to high texture environments and environments with lots of sprites e.g NPCs, large cities and combat.

I cannot wait for the new Microsoft flight simulator to come out on xbox… Its out for pc, just waiting for the xbox version…

I imagine Cyberpunk will be running at 30 FPS on the cut down version and it’ll probably use some form of resolution upscaling

I dont intend on playing it as its not for me, but I downloaded it and flew from an air field I worked out and went to my house. The technology and graphics are mind blowing.

Yeah, what I’ve seen of it so far does look incredible… Can’t wait…

How big an advantage is Sony’s SSD over Xbox’s M.2 drive though mate? They’re both lightening fast. I tend to think Microsoft’s 52 compute units versus PS5s 36 will make it more of a graphical beast. The main issue Xbox have is they’re not going for they haven’t invested in coding specifically for it. So you’ll get many developers who want to sell on last gen, not stretching it’s capabilities

I realise how little I know about consoles when some of you guys get to talking about SSDs and all that technical stuff lol

Thats the beauty of consoles, you don’t need to care about any of it…plug and play.

SSD’s are not technical. Your USB sticks are basically SSDs.

Fucking noobs

That’s the thing though, the way Sony has gone about it is to make the transfer of data more efficient which means in the overall scheme of things it will translate to better performance, theoretically anyway. The speeds that the Sony SSD has, isn’t even available on consumer PCs yet (and I think it’s like twice that of the Xbox) plus instead of the standard two lanes of priority it will have 6, which means that developers can store all kinds of stuff to be instantly accessed (changing how game worlds are designed) and because it has its own chip to help move large chunks of data and compression software which (decompress like 9gb of data high texture packages etc… ) it shouldn’t get bottle necked. No point in having fast ram and Fast Storage if it all goes to the CPU, at some point there will be delays in what data gets accessed. In theory then all of the PS5s components should compliment each other in a way that a regular PC or console usually doesn’t getting the same performance if not better with “lesser” components at a lower price point. Regardless I will get both but I’m most excited for the PS5.

@SpankyJoyJoy @JakeyBoy now that Yakuza is on Xbox.

What are yous waiting for?

GET IT NOW

It’s actually good unlike Shenmue, right?

Looks horrible dude, not really into single player games anymore unless it’s like Dark Souls or strategy.

Looks like an older shitter Sleeping Dogs, which I thoroughly enjoyed back in the day tbf.

Love the humour in this trailer I hope they keep it up during the actual game

It’s a newer better sleeping dogs bro, with virtua fighter style martial arts gameplay.

@JakeyBoy I can’t believe how shit shenmue ended up being. I thought I’d love it, but fuck me this go to work, go home it’s your bedtime pish is unbearable. Massive disappointment.

This is miles better.

It is genuinely right up your street, with the amazing drama and then transitions into comedy which are pulled off very well.

@Electrifying and @TheSpecialCnut do either of you play Hitman on PC?

Seems a lot of people are mad that it’s not on Steam and is exclusive to the epic games store. I think partly cos they’re supposedly a bit of a scummy company, but mostly cos it means that none of your progress from the first two games would carry over into the third. I’m seeing lots of people say that they’ll be waiting a year til the exclusive deal runs out and they can get the game and keep their progress.

The original remake is free on Epic games this week if you’re interested in having it multi platform.

I have Hitman 1 and 2 on steam. I’m not bothered, I normally wait a year for them to iron out the bugs and so I can get it on sale while playing through my backlog. Epic is trying to get some traction on Steam’s monopoly. It gives away 2 games a week, including AAA games. Because of that I have about 100 games they’re given me for free. On a recent sale they gave you vouchers that dropped games like AC Odyssey/Origins, Far Cry 4 Gold and Metro Exodus to £6.49. I got Far Cry 5, it’s season pass and Far Cry 3 for a total of £7.49. Even if you don’t buy from them, it’s pushing Steam to offer vouchers in their sale. So overall competition is good for gamers. They won’t get most of my generation moving over, but they will get the teenagers of today
