Upcoming Video Games

I mean it’s pretty common to sell at a loss early on. Sony did that with PS3 and PS4. XBOX will have to have a competitive price to get the lead. If rumours are true and they’re targeting 4-5 million units sold in the first year then they still have to go at £550 max.

Nah, it’s not just a gimmick. Both Sony and Microsoft have invested heavily on getting personalized SSDs and an SDK that takes full advantage of them. Many devs have come out explaining that PS5 and XBOX are absolute units for their potential price point and that their SSDs are the real game changers.

£550 isn’t happening. PS3 launched at $500 14 years ago, PS4 came out during a recession so was underspeced, PS5 is speced full fat

PS5 is launching at $800-$900 or £650-£700. There’s also going to be a shortage of PS5s at launch, so they aren’t underpricing them.

Sony acknowledged they fucked up with the PS3 though and it pretty much cost them the console war to Xbox.

You don’t seem to understand the tech. SSDs/NVMEs have been around for a long time and the version the consoles get at best will be a decent NVMe, which has been available for all PCs for ages. Consoles will never be able to get components that’s faster than PCs due to cost.

Them saying it’s not a gimmick isn’t really an argument for it not being any game changer over a regular SSD in a PC, it will be over the crappy mechanical drives they used to use but that’s a different point. They’re mostly just chatting shit all of them, look at the xbox reveal, some company shows a pre-rendered 30 second film after which some absolute nut-gargling clown exclaims how fantastic the GAMEPLAY looks. It’s getting worse than E3 safe space hug fests nowadays lol.

Technically they still won it in the end lol.

But yeah agreed, the PS3 was a mess early on with no games.

Interestingly Xbox has a more powerful system this time that will cost more and Playstation has a weaker and slightly cheaper system.

I’m pretty sure both have overspeced era wise over a PS4. They’ve made a much bigger technological leap this time. It costs more to make and will demand a higher price, initially at least.

The PS5 is going to have an M2 slot

They need it to expand the hard disc. You’re not going to fit many next gen games on a 500gb SSD

They can never compete, or catch up with PC tech. They have to wait until the wholesale prices have dropped.

Otherwise all the new gen consoles would be stocked with badass M.2 drives, and DDR5 ram.

I didn’t know that. It’s a step in the right direction.

Pretty positive I do. I work in tech. Not in gaming specifically but I’ve been exposed to sectors that pretty much align with gaming needs.
Sony and Microsoft make deals with semiconductor companies that ensures that they get specifically optimized hardware that will get them the best output for their needs. Also, that allows them a headjump on tech that’s not available for sale to the public yet.

Yeah, plus the pandemic. Early rumours had both consoles at around $400, which would mean selling at considerate loss. However, they’ve had production issues lately which apparently has bumped them back to the inevitable $500 mark which they’ve been scared of going near again.
I do agree that they could definitely get away with a higher initial price this time around. Sony are playing the waiting game though to see what XBOX does first given that they’re in the lead due to PS4’s success.

Just read some of the TLOU2 leaks, sounds like they fucked it pretty bad.

Mayne, maybe not.
Neil Druckmann said it best, it’s a video game you ought to play it to understand it. I think it’s gonna do well in the end. Naughty Dog knows what’s up.

ready to relive my youth with this game

I’d actually love it if they started remastering older games more frequently before they drop the PS5.

I know it’ll never happen because of how they go about modelling player faces and obvious issues with licensing and stuff but I’d love a FIFA 98 game remastered or something haha.
