Have to admit, I’ve struggled to get into Yakuza 2. Fucking 20 minute cut scenes all the time and I feel like all I’m doing is running around the streets getting into fights with Thugs and Delinquents haha
I just got to the first cabaret club mini-game though, which is quite good fun.
I’ve only played 7 10 12 13 and 15 and I think 15 was the worst.
I was disappointed but it does have some good bits that are impressive so worth a blast.
I think there’s a movie that goes with it that I didn’t watch, but I think it covers the events leading up to the beginning of the game so I imagine it might give some context for the story, as I got a bit lost with it
I really enjoyed it, actually I think people are a little harsh on it in parts even if I do agree it’s flawed - the second half does have some pacing problems, but the opening is very strong. People seem to ignore the good in it and there is alot of good.
It’s a beautiful world, probably one of the nicest created in this generation. The story is pretty good perhaps not in line with some of the other epics but it’s not terrible either. The ending comes together well but you could see they ran out of money and time to end it perfectly.
Even though they’re no Cloud, Squall the chocobros are good fun.
I think if you don’t expect to much from it you can get a lot of joy from it. Problem is everyone -rightly- expects every FF to be a masterpiece.
It might be worth considering building a gaming PC as you can use an Xbox controller, you should be able to access any Xbox games you’ve purchased using the Xbox gaming pass, which has nearly all Xbox exclusives. There’s advantages in cost, texture mods to overhaul old games, upgrade path, higher graphical settings, higher framerates, cheaper higher discounted games, free game giveaways, larger range of games, better VR support if you want to give that a whirl.
Next gen consoles will be more expensive than prior gens, Xbox will probably cost more than PS5, I’d bet around £700
I’m such a PC elitist cunt I just get angry that people play on consoles nowadays because it’s harder to pirate there so devs make more and more games designed for console to sell numbers but the hardware sucks arse so they have to shit on the actual game in terms of fucking with the asset quality, map size, render distance, fov etc and instead pack it full of shitty pre-rendered crap, they rarely put in the effort to make the “port” to PC without all this dung either once they’ve decided to release it on console as well, or worse: they sign platform exclusive deals to ensure a minimum intake of cash and you end up not being able to play it at all on PC (looking at you, FROM Software).
yeah I know. Some games still make for better gaming with friends in a living room of course. But still. When you start to lose out on good single player games liek bloodbourne you get salty lol hope they make up for it with Elden Ring.
TBF if it weren’t for consoles we wouldn’t have Navi and Nvidia’s price gauging would be completely out of control. And next gen will mean better gaming engines that take advantage of modern CPUs
Given how expensive the parts are it makes me wonder if they’ll come out with a PS5 lite now we’re going into a worldwide recession.
Nvidia are absolute cunts as well and no I think we would have that kind of stuff without consoles anyway, it’s more like former ATI and AMD are keeping Nvidia’s prices in order for decade/s prior, and eventually some east Asian company will pick up producing high end stuff themselves with all the components involved and we’ll have a healthy market. It’s just a matter of time imo.
They’ve been quiet for a while but look at how now that they finally make a peep for the first time in a while and challenge with their sub 10nm transistor tech Nvidia just casually could drop their prices on the XX60 series, like wtf you had that shit at that price all along you were just not… selling it because you had no competition. As if they’ve just been constantly doing very timely and convenient 5-10% development upgrades at a steady and surprisingly linear pace for 25 years, like they’re trying to make it look like, and not just that they’ve had plenty of better shit going all the time they just space it out in 5-10% upgrades at constant intervals to sell as minor upgrades to as high a price as possible.
Look at how cunty they are when they charge devs load extra for using PhysX or their new shitty real time ray tracing no one asked for by offering them support and minimum pay which the gaming industry is desperate for but it results in shitty games at higher prices.
Look at how cunty they’ve been with monitor manufacturers having to buy and pay extra (meaning you the customer will have to buy and pay extra) to use licensed Gsync modules, but oh wait once free sync actually got good it turns out once they opened their arse holes and looked we could actually use free sync all along and not only that, it was actually backwards compatible with half a generation of cards with which it was possible all along anyway.
Now instead they call that G-sync “compatible” and their own module based stuff G-sync and introduce G-sync “ultimate” where they actually did their job properly and make sure it works.
They’re a great example of what happens when you allow free market top dogs to bully their way into a semi-monopoly and we end up getting shafted for it lol and to tie back to it, I think we most definitely would’ve had similar development to a large degree anyway, at least enough to compensate for shittier games. Their development is not done by gamers, it’s mostly done by material engineers at universities somewhere.
This is the problem with Duopilies and from what I remember AMD and Nvidia have been caught price fixing before. And AMD are overpricing there 5000s generation cards. The 5700xt-5600xt are essentially the same cut down card and the same size as the 570-580 from the generation before. You can even flash a 5700 to an XT to get 10% performance boost.
It’s smart business practise by proliferating their brand so they have performance for so many tiers. From Nvidia but we really could do with more competition. At the top end there is none until AMDs big Navi. Intel are entering the GPU market now too, so that should be interesting. I’m not sure if anyone smaller will be able to enter the market place because of the high R&D investment barriers to entry
Personally I wait until AMD are flogging off their old generation cards on the cheap and look to pick one up cheap. I picked up a Sapphire Vega 56 for £180 last year. Let the early adopters pay the R&D tax, I’ll wait until RDNA 2 is on sale.
That’s a bit excessive. No chance either one costs over £600.
Although, given current circumstances they could have gotten away with it given the supply will be limited.
Well, technically most next gen titles will be taking advantage of PS5 and XBOX’s custom SSDs which PC gamers wont be able to access(or at least an alternative of) for at least a year or two.
So it makes more sense to go for a next gen console in the immediate future.
that does absolutely nothing compared to PCs, it’s rather that xbox one and ps4 used regular sata discs and 5400 rpm at that LOL which is what laptops used back when dinosaurs walked the earth and now they’'re finally putting SSDs in which the whole PC world moved to I don’t know… 10 years ago? and now they have, then “custom” means nothing, SSD is an SSD, they have no access time and read/write fast enough nowadays that it doesn’t matter.
So it’s more that they’re catching up from being a decade behind and calling it “custom” to troll people lol
The current best price for the CPU and GPU is a total over £600 right now (although it will have the successor to those 2 units). Then you have a 500gb-1tb SSD - 70-110. You have 16gb of fast DDR6 RAM, which costs about £120. A PSU - at least 40, a cooling system. A motherboard £40 and a case.
While you’ll get some economies of scale PS5 and Xbox X are far more ambitious expensive projects than last gen was for the era and will be more expensive. Launch price will be high and stocks will be low. Prices will come down in 18-24 months
