As I said in another post, that only seems weird because they changed the name of the competition.
If it was still called the European Cup, rather than the Champion’s League, then finishing fourth to qualify wouldn’t be weird at all.

A random thought that occurred to me after playing this out on Football Manager - I don’t really care how far Barcelona have fallen, I would really love to see us demolish them, especially with Xavi as their manager. That is now my goal for us this season in Europe.

Yeah they ain’t as bad as people on here think, be a very interesting tie if we meet.
Really hope we don’t take this competition lightly going forward. Would be gutted if we end this season trophyless.
I’ll give you the excuse of City in the PL but there’s 5 main threats in the EL for me.
Man Utd, Juve, Barca, Roma and Sociedad.
Two of them face each other in the play-offs already so one will be out in the R16.
Respectfully, I think we’re the best team in the competition. Our European trophy cabinet is full of dust, this is our best chance to win a European trophy in some time. Don’t fuck this up.
