I always bring up one argument.
What did Messi accomplish and win for his national team?
Maradona cheated the England goal, but overall his performance in the 1986 WC was by far the best, and consistent enough to win it all.
Argentina could not even win the Copa America, Messi could not even make his teammates to “play” for him.
Maradona won the Serie A twice with Napoli (which player do you remember and know besides Careca??), and also Coppa Italia and UEFA Cup.
What did Messi accomplish without playing with the Spanish International team (Fartcelona)??
If Messi is the GOAT, then Maradona is GOD
