Is it really handball though? His hands are down by his side.
It is all up to interpretation, and in my point of view, it was (I am frustrated).
You have a shit rule making a ball deflection (unintentionally, especially it was the defender passing the ball back) as an offiside, then a ball touched the hand (intentionally or not) and deflected the ball into the goal and it stood.
Fucking rule.
In the end, when the game is decided by who is lucky donāt get caught and who is not, there is no justice.
This is really fucking annoying isnāt it. It wasnāt even a move that City devised, it was just Bernardo Silva getting a touch on a Spurs pass and deflecting it randomly into Agueroās path. Really fucking annoys the shit out of me.
On reflection I hate the away goals rule more than VAR.
Outdated, and needs launched
hate it too, a goal is a fucking goal it shouldnt matter at what ground it is scored if it is even then do extra time or go straight to penalties.
I personally like it
Rumours are this might be its last season and UEFA will axe it for 2019/20. Seen it mentioned in articles back in February.
I like it until it goes awry like yesterday and puts a side full of cunts through
I personally donāt mind the away goals rule. Itās always added another layer of intrigue in these knockout games.
The only tweak they should make to a two legged tie is, if a game is forced into extra time, then there should be no away goal ruling for those 30 minutes. Would be more equal and fair that way over the two matches.
To the best of my knowledge the away goal rule doesnāt count in extra time. But I could be terribly wrong.
Agreed. Too much evil has gone through because of it. Leave alone last night.
Iām very sure itās helped Real Madrid a lot, and it helped Chelsea in their win 2012.
Itās always screwed us as well.
So fuck that rule.
Somebody made a good point that it was introduced when it took a lot longer to get to other grounds, and the pitch/ball everything would be different
With todayās preparation methods and globalised world, weāve outgrown it.
Exactly. I donāt ever recall it helping us and it ALWAYS benefits other evil cunts, as you say.
Maybe weāll lose 3-1 today and itāll work for us for once
I could complain about VAR, or away goalsā¦or anything else.
But the reality is over the two legs, Spurs deserved to go through.
I absolutely love away goal rule
According to this link, the away goal rule does still apply in extra time.

Article 20.01 ā Away goals rule
For matches played under the knockout system, if the two teams involved in a tie score the same number of goals over the two legs, the team which scores more away goals qualifies for the next stage.
If this procedure does not produce a result, i.e. if both teams score the same number of goals at home and away, two 15-minute periods of extra time are played at the end of the second leg.
If both teams score the same number of goals during extra time, away goals count double (i.e. the visiting team qualifies for the next stage).
If no goals are scored during extra time, kicks from the penalty mark determine which team qualifies for the next stage.
Yes, Juventus beat Real Madrid in the semiās in 2015 in the same way, if I recall. A late away goal in ET (after Real had already scored in ET) to put them through to the final.
Either which way that would have happened
Pretty sure the away goals rule counts in ET, Sevilla vs Sparta Prague was 2-2 1st leg and when it was 3-3 in ET 2nd leg Iām sure Sevilla was going through until Slavia got the 120th min 4th.
It wasnāt handball.
His hands were within āthe silhouetteā, the goal rightfully stood, as much as I hate saying it.
Im no fan of VAR but one thing was mentioned in its favour on radio today that I agree with. Its highlighting how bad some of the rules are concerning offside.
Its literally getting to the situation where a player with a bigger shoe size can be called offside or onside.
