UEFA Champions League

Just seen the result, what a fantastic bit of news to sort us out on a Friday!

The quad-is-on

:ode2:

Am not going to dream of us in the semi-final just yet.

Beautiful

But we have to take Bodo seriously they beat a lot of teams this year.

But amazing stuff let’s.win this thing man

Just seen the draw! OMG! Literally a dream draw for us. Doesn’t mean anything though unless we do what we need to do against Bayer Leverkusen in R16.

This is going to really annoy our rivals! And potentially helps us in the title race against City…Real Madrid and then most likely Bayern Munich, IF they progress…

Wow!

nice nice nice nice

Something really funny about fans of the club with the most CLs celebrating avoiding the team with 0 CLs until the final.

Can’t say I blame them, I’ve seen Madrid get whooped before, I don’t think I’ve ever seen them get so thoroughly beaten over two legs in the CL, especially after the whole talk leading to the return leg.

Don’t underestimate our ability to fuck up things. We’ve demonstrated that a few times this year already. Would be very typical of our players to be dreaming of the semi-final/final and fuck up the round of 16 or the quarters.

Rival fans are calling how lucky this draw is but isn’t the whole point of finishing first is to get a favourable draw

Man City having to play Madrid during the title run is their own doing

Very true, and we have a tendency to make things difficult for ourselves! Equally, maybe this is our year!

City fans fuming but quietly ignoring they’ve lost to Leverkusen, Bodo, Newcastle and Spurs all this season.

Champions League for R16 confirmed:

First Leg: Bayer Leverkusen vs Arsenal
Wednesday 11th March
> KO: 5:45 UK time

Second Leg: Arsenal vs Bayer Leverkusen
Tuesday 17th March
> KO: 8:00pm UK time

Ugh that early kick-off time really sucks.

edit: what Bl1nk says above

How mentally hurt are you by previous campaigns :joy:

6:45 in NL is a lot better than 5:45 here! Looks like that will be a WFH day then :joy:

Exactly.

Nice to look ahead but let’s be real, we thought the same last season too when we convincingly defeated Real Madrid.

Arsenal’s approach and how opponents set up against us makes us more effective in the CL, but these games are only easy on paper.

If it was one of them, would fans be happier with CL more or the PL title?

Yes.

This is so tricky. While I think winning the PL is tougher than winning the CL, Arsenal as a club needs a CL more than a PL.

So no not tricky, I take that back..give me CL

The CL has always been the holy grail for me. Even after decades without a league title I’d never put that above winning in Europe.

Luckily, there’s nothing in the rules that says we can’t win both :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Whichever it is, shen the time comes I’m sure I’ll find a way to make it sound more important than the other one.

I would absolutely give up the PL title if it meant we win the CL.

But we’ll do both
