I don’t see why var officials have to be former on pitch officials. I think it would be better to have specialised video referees that ideally weren’t immediate colleagues with the on-pitch officials.

That’s like saying all cops were honest before body cams and cell phones with cameras were invented. Doesn’t hold water. I want refs mic’d but that will only illustrate how fucking broken the system is even more.
But we can’t live in a world where we think just going back to simpler times without the interference of modern technology will suddenly iron out all the issues.
The entire set up needs a systematic reform, starting with creating rules that are easier to enforce in the modern game, with genuine transparency.
But they don’t want that.

The subject result of having these shit technology is, it is even worse. More misunderstanding, more confusion, and more controversial.
I am not saying technology is bad. It is supposed to bring objective decision, to bring effeciency and accurracy.
Does VAR give us that? FUCK NO.
On one hand they brought the technology to the game, but on other hand they fuck up the rules and regulations. When most (if not every) of the goals scored nowadays, fans need to wait for VAR to confirm if the goal is valid or not. FUCKING STUPID.
If this shit keeps happending, I’d rather having the old way back. Simplicity is the best.

This automatic offside technology seems promising, much more so than relying on Lee Mason to draw a line on a computer screen.
I was just thinking that myself, it’s really all about the application of the technology. No one ever complains about the efficiency of the hawk eye system because it’s more or less perfect and totally removes dumbfuck human interaction.
Hopefully this new application of offside can be something similar
