As an outsider looking at the US and their internal politics it just all looks so… ridiculously stupid. It’s just a circus. Bread and butter for the masses and the illusion of choice. Much noise, little change either way.

Look up a Supreme Court decision called Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission.
Certain…ehem “monied interests” made it so that corporations are essentially treated as people and money is now tantamount to free speech—they opened the floodgates to unlimited spending on elections.

Lobbying and donations have been legal for a long time. Citizens United took the guardrails completely off.
It’s still corruption. Paying someone else for favours / influence. Just legal and sounds fancier than being told you’re corrupt and a crook. 
They should stick to insider trading like Pelosi.
That’s an opinion that I agree with. I’m just telling you what the actual laws on the books are and how we got here.
