Sterling is a top player but he will cost like 300-350k per week and 60-70m transfer fee. You might get a couple good seasons but you also might get an Ozil or Willian situation where he decides that he doesnāt need to work hard anymore and can play by his own rules. No thanks.
We have great young talent on the wings in Saka, Martinelli, and (sometimes played there) ESR. If the club is going to go anywhere, we need to foster their development into stars, not block them.
Where we are shit is central midfield and the right side of defense.
We have limited resources, so focus them on where we are shit not where we have exciting young players ready to break out.

For someone who knows how to use them, agreed. But weāve unfortunately got the Southgate of club football as our manager who will waste it and have these guys sitting in front of our own penalty box for 90 minutes after we cut the opposition to shreds in the first 
Iām not exactly an advocate of signing Sterling but out of the young players you mentioned perhaps one because a true star.
Donāt think we should be generally turning our nose up at more established players just because of them.

Your still in the potential levels with ESR and Martenelli not sure we can dismiss opportunity of turning down top talents.
Not directed at yourself but the over reliance that some set on project youth is not going to work in this League.

Well it looks like the club is doubling down on it so weāll see how that pans out.
It canāt be all youth players but with limited resources compared to other big clubs we basically have to bet on some of the developing.
Buying Sterling for 70m and giving him 300k+ per week essentially means not buying a creative midfielder or central midfielder, so youāre looking at a better front lineā¦and then the likes of Elneny and Holding passing sideways between themselves and never getting them the ballā¦ while our top talents sit on the bench and plot their moves away.
Then in a couple years Sterling is a 29-year-old player already on massive wages and we are faced with the same situation we faced with Ozil, Sanchez, etc of either giving them another really dumb big contract or letting them walk for free.
We get sterling this teams total unbalanced we be stacked with wingers but zero midfielders
Think this club would have learnt about just buying players for the sake of it instead of buying players we actually need.

Weāve had teams filled with talent but with no balance before. It didnāt work then and it wonāt work now with Arteta naturally putting system above players.
Weāll end up with a bunch of first team players on the bench and having to fill the gaps in the starting team with bench players. It wonāt be long till next backroom drama unfolds and weāre back to square one.
We havenāt progressed from square one in years. We canāt go anymore backwards. We have and are with two 8th placed finishes stagnation status.
It can always get worse.

Thereās a always a risk but he may come here with a point to prove. WC 2022 is coming up as well, there is some competition up front with Ronaldo, Jota, Neto, Bruno Fernandes, etc.
I think he would be motivated and can fit nicely in the team. Heās very versatile and is probably very familiar with how Arteta wants to play.

Yeh heās a great talent no doubt, really classy player, I just think Maddisons mindset might be more of a sure thing. Willian has put the fear of god in me a bit when it comes to deals like this. Would also probably prefer Sterling if Iām being honest even though theyāre very different players.

Given their respective ages and the stages theyāre at in their careers, I wouldnāt really couple them together as being the same kind of deal. Silva would come here with a point to prove of sorts, and would know that doing well here could still mean he has a big move left in him in a couple years, given he is currently 26. We were Willianās one ābigā move and he clearly feels he has fuck all to prove.

I canāt remember the last time I watched Bernardo Silva and felt impressed with what I was seeing. Feel like, aside from one really high level season, heās levelled out as just a solid player and I wouldnāt want the club to spunk serious money on his transfer and high wages given the sample of what we have so far is that he was once really good, but hasnāt been really good for a while now.

I think heād stand out more at Arsenal though. Heād improve the technical level of the team substantially and be our biggest creative threat from open play too.
