I agree.
To come from Man City, having played with some of the best team in Europe under the best manager in Europe, is quite a climb down for Bernado.
For Maddison, it would be the first time he’s played at a big club, even though he has had more success at Leicester, and would want to push for an England starting place.

But, like you say, Sterling really would be an upgrade on anything we have and with him playing alongside Aubameyang, Saka and Pepe, it would be a great attacking line up.

Exactly this. Our team is utterly bereft of creative quality. I honestly think he’d have an absolutely massive impact if we signed him.

Standing out creatively at Arsenal these days is a different story to standing out and excelling at City, with their plethora of options and ability to constantly refresh their squad in the market on a whim.

I can understand your trepidation in that he hasn’t consistently hit the heights of that banging 2018-19 season, but overall he is a class above what we have from a technical standpoint.

He’s 27 in August which is prime age and he’s got massive (winning) experience already. We lack that kind of profile in our attack big time.

I think it would be an absolute coup if we managed to get him. Coming from City to Arsenal is a true step down though so just can’t see him ever wanting to come here.

Different to Maddison as Leicester to Arsenal is still a step up in terms of club expectation / pressure (even though Leicester are clearly ahead of us in terms of recent league performance).

When I posted that I actually wasn’t aware he was only 26 I swear I thought he was 2 or 3 years older but when I later read his age on Twitter I was blown away. Dude has been around forever completely amazed he’s still that young.

Bernardo probably has another 6 good years in him with his skillset and play style.
Too obvious of a move for Arsenal to pull off though.

The fact he’s literally in his prime has completely changed my opinion on this but he’s still third choice behind Sterling or Maddison for me.

I’m actually really interested to see how the likes of White and potentially Maddison would approach a move to a club like Arsenal. We don’t often get to see established players come from one EPL club to here, and they’re very rarely around the age profile of 22-24. Perhaps I’m naive but I really think it could change the entire culture of the dressing room. Far too often we buy mediocre seasoned pros who view Arsenal as a lateral move.

Rumours still popping up about Utd and Liverpool considering a bid for Saul Niguez…player may want CL footbally but personally I’d love us to make a bid for him and reunite him with Partey. Could be a perfect pivot for us. Maybe part exchange money plus Laca could be an attractive option for Atletico who originally were leading the race for Laca before we signed the player.

Atletico interest in Laca seems to be there…could we pull off a major transfer coup and sign Saul Niguez in a fantastic swap deal?

Don’t do this to yourself @The_Invincibles , I’ve been banging that Partey-Saul reunion drum as well but it doesn’t seem to be on the cards.
Looks like Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool and Bayern are monitoring his situation. Barca seem to be in talks with Atleti regarding a Griezy-Saul swap so I think that’s his eventual destination.
Can’t see us going in now for him.

You have to dream! Plus it does make sense…we have a player that Atletico want and we need a replacement for Xhaka…previous midfield partner of Partey. Liverpool, Utd, Chelsea, Barca, and Bayern have all been linked, but no one has made a move. Could be this years Partey!

You can’t do an “I told you so” when the thing you told us hasn’t even happened, that’s literally not how it works.

When I said that to Elec most conceded that Martin is staying at Madrid. This move will always be on the table due to Madrid being unstable.

It’s happening. :eyes:

If we managed to pull off that transfer, and Maddison as well, it would be the best window most of us have seen.
A Partey and Saul pairing with Maddison playing alongside Saka, Pepe, ESR and Aubameyang upfront, would be one of the best midfields in the PL.

Really good video from Statman Dave on YouTube…very positive about the White and Lokonga signings and also some really good suggestions and possible transfer priorities. I would still love us to make a move for Aouar who could provide so much versatility within our midfield. Worth a look!

How Arteta Could Set Up Arsenal Next Season | Starting XI, Formation & Tactics

Who do you want if we sign a RB this window?

Would’ve preferred if we stuck with Fofty but that’s out of the question now.
Would have loved Lamptey if we went into the market but the guy has been f’ed with injuries so he’s a massive risk now.

The one we’ve been most reliably linked was Tyler Adams from Leipzig but that deal was deemed too difficult per The Athletic. It was mentioned he has a RC but I’m not sure but I’m not sure if the fee was revealed.

If somehow Cedric goes I wouldn’t mind him.

Is Tyler Adams a full back? I thought he was a midfielder for some reason.

He is. But he’s been used on the right. Kimmich effect.

AMN turning in his grave that you didn’t pick him for that example

Our RB situation sums up Arsenal football club, we’re spending about 250k a week on players in that position yet none are good enough to be 1st choice :joy:. Pathetic
