With Arteta going full Guardiola I kind of see a future for Ziyech here. Still think he will be a little bit to light, but he fits as one of two half midfield players.

Yeah I’m warming to it… he doesn’t seem happy here and he hasn’t been very good lately and the early bromance with Auba seems long gone…
I think the issue will be who do we bring in b/c I can’t see Auba staying either… lose both and we have literally no strikers other than Eddie, and he doesn’t look a serious option for back-up even… Martinelli? Pepe?
We’d have to bring in 2 strikers next summer… I worry that AFC won’t do that much changing in one summer at such a key position.
Emery didn’t want him in the summer, but apparently he was a possibility.
I hope he continues to be one.
Personally I think it’s more likely he’ll stay, I think he’s waiting for the club to trend in a positive direction with results and style on the pitch. Arteta has the ability to do that with the remainder of the season he has. An EL win would change everything for this club
I think his move to Arsenal pretty much confirmed competing for major honours/playing at the very highest level isn’t the primary concern for him at this stage of his career. He is someone I’d say is primarily motivated by financial security as he ages.
Question is, would supporters be comfortable giving Auba £300K+ 2/3 year extension? I think whatever happens we should let his deal run down, there aren’t many teams out there who can afford his wages and £30m+ transfer fee Auba would be willing to move to
I don’t feel like this is completely fair to him. He has always said Real Madrid was his dream move, they however never came in for him. He had to make a choice at that point. Sitting out at Dortmund or an ‘adventure’ somewhere else.
Depends on how you see it. I understand from the Dortmund POV it’s seen that Auba deliberately misbehaved in order to get a move for more money. He was linked to China at various points during his time there

I saw the thread pop up and thought a few of things.
- the title is just quite ugly to look at, with the underdlscored, blank part there.
- it’s quite a lengthy thread title. Being concise with titles is good.
- it’s a little cringe now perhaps? Was fun in the summer when we were all giddy about Raul and the Pepe signing, the mood seems to have changed a little, the joke has gone stale?
But we don’t shy away from cringe in here if it’s in the name of fun, so if people still enjoy it, we can leave it. Thought that it wasn’t my decision to take unilaterally.

I don’t think that he has been that good that Bayern or Barcelona now will be interested in signing him. With Ajax in the Europa League, his profile isn’t really going to ascend any further anyway. But we will have to see. 90% sure this summer he leaves.

How do people feel about Ibrahim Sangare as a potential Xhaka replacement?
Toulouse currently bottom of Ligue 1, looking very likely to get relegated. Sangare’s current deal expires in July 2021. Could be an excellent piece to really solidify our midfield at a modest price.

Saw a Tifo Football vid on him a little while back, could be a good signing indeed.
I think there’s a lot of good value in Ligue 1 right now. We would have no problem shifting Xhaka and bringing in a suitable replacement.

Think he’s a bit overrated, very raw still for me but there’s definitely something there if properly coached. Will require some time to get him going. Someone who could use the second half of the season to bed in and then the pre-season to start rolling.

Without watching him play whole games it’s impossible to know how consistently he was playing at the level of the highlight clips, but he seems to have (in at least raw ability):
Xhaka’s long range passing
Torreira’s interceptions and tackling
A better strength and general mobility than anyone in our midfield
And he seems very apt at playing out of defense which I think is a prerequisite of a midfielder in today’s game
All of that with him only being 21 I think he’s definitely worth a punt. Him and Guendouzi playing together in 5 or so years time could be epic…

These are the kinds of moves we should be making. Low risk, high reward. There’s a lot of raw talent there.
