Thomas Partey

No idea who we’re watching in that video, since it’s a 240p resolution!

Still gave it a like though

Clearly shot with a potato mate, but still gave it a like for the boss.

My dream is Ceballos and Partey in the middle as Ceballos adds a bit more creativity, and then Pepe and Saka out on the wings.

Ceballos is low key fantastic defensively as well

Very aggressive and dogged but a little unreliable and unpredictable. I’d love to see what Ceballios could do in more of a free role Infront of Partey/Elneny, with 4 at the back.

At home and I feel like our midfield triangle needs to be Saka/Ceballios/Partey. Not a back pass in sight.

You started out with such a promising formation and you fucked it right at the end. :arteta:

Tbh I’m a bit down on Eddie right now but I’ll take it lol

@Castiel tbh I’d give Partey the keys and any free role, and have Ceballos sit back.

He could potentially do it and he does his best work in the middle third

Sorry my man can’t agree with that. Partey is one of the world’s best box to box players because he understands the importance of the duality of the role when it comes to each box.

Players like Ramsey were box to box with only the opposition’s box in mind.

Partey respects his role as an anchor and progresses only when it’s safe for the team. Every amazing tackle Gabriel made today you could see Partey come in and sweep up.

People will say Partey is athletic, strong and tall. This is true but most of all he is a thinker, he reads danger, then transitions the ball away from that.

He can’t do that too far up the pitch.

Pre 1992, Billy Butcher all day long. Playing for England he’d have taken Mardona’s head off his shoulders long before he got the chance to score either of his famous goals.

I agree.
Partey is more like Vieira than Ramsey and probably captain material as well.

Yeah I guess it will be balanced. Basically let Partey do whatever he feels comfortable with. Have his partner fill in the rest.

Build it all around him.

Like we should with Auba btw. Make him the fulcrum.

Leno, Gabriel, Partey and Auba is looking like a world class spine. Mikel just needs to take the prescriptive back brace off and let it flow.

But have to consider the fact he would be hungover in every other match. Guess he’d just do a little coke to counteract it.

Xhaka in some games and maybe Elneny in some others

And no, not Ceballos for me. I thought he was playing too close to goal when he first joined, but now he’s playing too deep. I would be interested in seeing how Ceballos would do in a more free wide 4-4-2 role, but I doubt we’ll ever see that with Arteta.

Very different players imo. Think people going to feel let down if they go down that road.
Has his own skill set and fans just need too buy into that for now.

I think they worked well together. Better than with Xhaka. Elneny is more disciplined than Xhaka, freeing up Partey to get forward when needed. What I’d like to see is this pairing in a 4-3-3 with a more creative player in front. I think Partey is an 8 and Elneny lets him play that role more than Xhaka. I’m not saying I don’t want a better pairing, but with what we have, I think Elneny works better there. Partey is great at breaking up play, but he isn’t a DM so having someone more defensive minded and disciplined would be better.
