Thomas Partey (5)

If Neves is worth 55, Partey is worth at least 70 million, even if he’s 30.

Fabrizio said it has to be a serious offer btw. Thinking 40+m personally.
It should be 60+m but we’re awful at selling so took 20m off.

The only way xhaka and Partey heading out is acceptable is if we bring Rice, Caicedo and Lavia in to replace them. Anything less and we’re no better off.

Worth 75m to any other club, Saudi offers should be 100m.

There has to be something more to this. Partey might be 30 but he’s a player with experience in a very young squad. Was super trusted by the manager for most of last season and before that basically his entire Arsenal career.

We’re finally competing in the CL where we need depth and experience…and we’re looking to offload Partey? It just doesn’t make sense from a footballing perspective.

Players like Partey are so rare. He will still be hugely influential and useful for another 2 years.

Massively risky to sell him and then have 2-3 brand new CMs going into a new season. A lot of upheavel in an area where we were really settled.

Perplexed.

I’d rather keep Partey. He’s our best cm. However, if an offer of say 60m came in for a near 30 year old with injury worries, we’d have to think about it.

Need to be on to the Saudis for offers on the likes of Pepe, Tavares and Cedric. Surely Ronaldo can put in a word for his compatriots.

Reckon it could be something to do with his personal life issues that are still ongoing?

Maybe. It’s the only explanation really.

We were so strong in central midfield last season. Changing 2 of the 3 starters seems really risky. Likely to have a huge impact on how well we start the season. Can’t afford any teething issues but slotting in 2 new players behind Odegaard will be a massive adjustment.

Pretty convinced this is mainly to do with the accusations especially given Xhaka’s departure. Don’t think the club would take such a massive risk in seeing them both off after their contribution to our best performing league season in years. He’s been a huge player for Arteta’s system.

How anyone can play down the significance of losing the lynchpin of our midfield is absurd. It’s a massive blow.

For me, losing Partey would confirm there’s no depth coming here only replacements and in my opinion worse off replacements at best.

Rice, Caicedo, Lavia - they’re not at Partey’s level yet. We fell away primarily because of a lack of quality depth to manage the toll of a full season challenging.

All we had to do this summer was add to an already strong team. Just really hoping we hang onto him.

Honestly for sporting reasons I’d really rather not but otherwise it leaves a bad taste in the mouth.

If we could bring in a couple good CMs, Rice and Caicedo/Lavia, then I’d be fine with the club moving on.

I think £60-70m for a player like him is very fair. Especially as you say if Neves is worth £55m. For that sort of price, I’d sell, buy Caicedo, and keep Jorginho.

As good as both Rice and Caicedo potentially are, not sure how a totally new midfield pairing of Ricedo will help us prosper especially in such a young team. Could actually even hinder a quick start to our season. Hence can’t see Arteta letting Partey go at all. Think we’ll sign Rice and Rice-Partey will be our base of midfield this season. Caicedo is bound for Chelsea or somewhere imo.

If we replace Xhaka and Partey with Rice, Kai, Lavia/Caicedo, sure we will have a new tactics and setup.
It will not be “who filling in who” situation.

If we get 50+m for a 30 year old player, it’s a very good deal. I do however hope we have someone else incoming, because being short in midfield has cost us many times before.

I don’t think it has anything to do with the accusations. My guess is because he’s injury prone and did tbh have some very poor performances in our last 8-10 games. Poor judging by his top standard that is.

Took Partey and Xhaka two years to get used to what Mikel wanted though, don’t wana hang around that long again.

Bed the new guys in with Partey and slowly phase him out if they’re that good. It’s all about the investigation (might make sense to cash in) or a ridiculous offer that we can’t refuse (saudi), only sensible reasons to sell.

£60m, then we go and get Caicedo

We’re on to have the best window we’ve ever seen currently

We’re not going to get Caicedo. That’s off.

I agree it’s a risk having a completely new midfield but the clubs hands may be tied. Jorghino may well turn out to be used more early in the season for continuity purposes while the others bed-in

Chelsea can’t move for Caicedo until they’ve offloaded some of their current players, they’ll need to sell Mount and Havertz at least. so if we’re going to hijack a Chelsea transfer timing will be of the essence.
