The State of The Arsenal

That’s like having a flat tyre but waiting a few months to get it done because you know your local tyre shop has a half price sale coming up. :grinning:

If we leave the 3 games left against City and Liverpool along with one of the two against Chelsea and the scum game, from the remaining 21 matches we would need at least 56 points to have a slim chance of finishing in the top 4 because I don’t think 73 points will be enough this year. That’s 18 to 20 wins in the remaining 26 games. Impossible in the current scenario which leads to us being ruled out of UCL through the league. So the only explanation to the board’s backing of Unai is that they see the Europa League as the best route with not many good teams in it apart from United and possibly Red bull Salzburg who will drop down. UCL groups are finely balanced to make sure all the top teams qualify.

This is a genuine question but without looking back at our fixtures I can’t remember the last league game we won? :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:

Bournemouth

when was that?

Like I said. That’s how low my expectations have gotten. I certainly wouldn’t want to saddle someone like Freddie with the shit show this season has become. Because if we’re honest with ourselves, who could realistically pull us out of this nose dive? If we’re going to crash and burn, I want Emery to take the brunt of the, deserved, abuse. Not some poor schmuck we pulled in off the streets. Luis Enrique has been through enough this year.

Edit: But… to play devil’s advocate to my own point. If he manages to pull off a miracle and get us into CL, then they’ll say he’s earned an extension. Fuck me. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

Damn Mo, I’ve never seen it this bad. It’s honestly effecting my mood. Something I promised myself to never let happen again. Dire.

There are 26 games left

ok

I would think 16 - 18 wins (with some draws) out of 26 seems feasible (to reach 71). Not meant to be funny or anything.

Feasible with Unai Emery at the helm ? Or you just mean feasible in a normal situation ?

Both. Unless the players have really given up on Emery like the case was in Wenger’ last season.

Personally I don’t think we have a hope in hell of getting 54 points from our last 26 games with Unai Emery.

If Emery sees out the season I’m expecting 58-60 points.

We’ve got 17 points from 12 games, with only 4 wins.

Extrapolating that across the remainder of the season gives us another 9 wins, and another 37 points.

Fucking hell, that’s a total of 54 points. Jesus, I didn’t realise our results this season were that fucking bad.

16-18 wins from the remaining 26 games seems outrageously outside of our reach. No chance of that happening without some act of God helping us.

54 points?!

It’s all going according to plan boys, we’ll be well above the 40 point mark by seasons end! Phew!

18 wins in 26 is still not feasible under Emery lol

I wouldn’t even bet on 8 wins

Yeah tbh even if we sacked Emery now, we won’t be getting top 4.
