The State of The Arsenal

Wouldn’t fully agree :+1:t5: still think we look mentally fckd !? Still a step in the right direction !?

Win against Bournemouth with a better performance than tonight and we’re back.

Tonight could easily have gone either way. Some good keeping and a moment of class from Martinelli and Havertz at the other end is not enough to convince me we’ve turned a corner yet.

Arsenal 1–0 Sporting FT. Got the win, but still not very convincing

I think that in the circumstances, Sporting have not been beaten at home in ages, Arsenal still reeling from the double blow of cup defeats and missing Saka and Timber, that 1-0 was a great result gained from an okay performance.

The biggest thing for me was that our heads didn’t drop and that was why we scored. It allayed my “team mentality” fears a little.

Whatever happened to that free flowing football we played a couple of seasons ago when we were banging in goals for fun !?

Mikel wanted ‘control’.

I’ve not enjoyed watching the football much this season either. But someone made an interesting comment recently, and my hope is: this is Mikel proving to everyone, including himself, that he can deliver a big trophy (at any cost). Next season he introduces more balance and creativity.

With some top quality signings, Arteta can get us playing more attractive football because if Man City get a points deduction, what other opposition is there?

That’s my way of keeping hope.

Cannot watch more seasons of this style even if we win shit. It’s fine for this season and for specific comps (safety first in knockout cup later rounds …okay) but I need more exciting play over the season.
