Feels like this happens every other years and every other year we used to crash out of all of them in the space of a week.
Excellent news
make sure he can play first guys
Are those talks with Kai regarding a contract termination?
@Mr_Nostalgia and @shamrockgooner were right, he must f’ed.
Contact negotiation for Kai? Hasn’t he been missing for about 18 months?
Havertz doesn’t deserve a new contract. The 65m midfielder has not banged. He’s been a decent striker for us. Rice is an essential renewal. He’s become our star player.
Arteta rates Kai, can see why he would want the club to extend
Yeah I mean as long as his fitness is okay, Arteta would keep him as long as possible.
I think his contract is mad but I never subscribe to this ‘get the wages off the books’ garbage so no real reason to let our most suited striker go.
The challenge is to find someone better, still.
Havertz was ok before his injury but realistically we have three strikers that haven’t really shown they are good enough for arguably the best team in Europe.
So if Arteta is going to try to sign another striker then we should sell Havertz, and possibly Jesus as well, because their injuries make them unreliable and we’re paying them around 30m a season wages between them to barely get on the bench.
You could get 40m plus for Havertz and 275k a week off the books. Surely, this is the sensible option.
Especially if his injury is gonna cause long term problems. Need to get him playing and see how it goes between now and end of season.
Kai’s fitness is an issue but if he gets back to his former level then I’d absolutely give him a new contract.
If anything last summer really shows how hard it is to find a striker with an all around game better than Havertz.
Looks like the dude from Sleaford Mods.
We sure the intention isn’t to use him for his death stare?
Bring it on.
The margins are so tight in EPL games. Dumb pundits prattling on about the old hoof ball playing style during their careers is silly. If I were running a club, I’d look for anything to gain an edge.
Crazy how teams seemingly have no plan for set pieces (kicks, long throws).
All he really needs to do is get the average throw in time down 99% from the 5 minutes it currently takes.
It Gronne be a fairly easy job
Honestly it’s so odd that we are apparently scumbags for focusing on things like set pieces to score goals. I feel like if someone like Pep was doing this, it’d be a non-stop jerk-fest about how he is an innovator etc.
If anything, it’s more surprising these things haven’t seen a bigger focus prior to our last dew seasons.
Yes, earlier in the season, it was a narrative to downplay Arsenal winning games since they had a run of not scoring many open play goals.
To your last paragraph, I agree. So much (and rightfully so) talk is spent on tactical setups, interchanging positions, etc that a key part of the game (set pieces) is overlooked not talked about much. It’s surprising to me that more teams aren’t trying different things in these situations to try to create an edge.
You can almost hear the crowd at away games groan when Arsenal has a corner or long throw coming up. ![]()
