The Russian Invasion of Ukraine

Jules don’t be so naive, man.

I thought they banned all pro Russian political parties.

Oh, they did.

I saw that yesterday.

Also saw something about Trump wanting $500b worth of earth mineral rights… Now we’ve actually found the why

Yes, an important lesson there for those who weren’t into politics for his first term. “Ignore what he says and watch what he does.”

Everyday Trump will try to ensure he’s the headline to distract attention from a collapsing economy, record high poverty, ethnic cleansing, concentration camps on the Mexico border & in Gitmo and enacting Project 2025 (Though I prefer to call it " Mein Kampf - 2025 Edition").

As you’ve rightly suggested he couldn’t give a toss about Ukraine, just wants them to hand over half a trillion in mineral rights to fill all the budget black holes he’s willfully creating.

Absolutely insane that they’d pass legislation banning Russian puppet political parties in May having been subjected to a full scale invasion by Russia in February of the same year. How totally unreasonable of them not to allow political parties within their country who actively support the agenda of their invaders. I can’t envisage any other country doing such an awful thing.

I agree.

Sure, an invaded country should just welcome their invaders to partake in their society and governance, that makes total sense.

They shouldn’t be able to, and indeed they’re banned from doing so.

So far we’ve seen Trump’s foreign policy is to give Putin what he wants, exclude Ukraine from negotiations, install a new government in Ukraine, give West Bank to Israel, take Gaza, Greenland and the Panama Canal for the Americans

What a guy he is

The irony of all this is that Reform support Trump, Reform were born out of the Brexit campaigners who demanded that we protect our borders and maintain our sovereignty. Something that Trump also wants for the US.

And yet, when it comes to other countries’ sovereignty and borders, just invade and be a hypocrite. I wonder how Farage and the rest of those shameless grifters and wife-beaters in Reform would respond if Putin wanted to invade the UK or if Trump wanted to buy Scotland off us.

The sad thing is what Trump is doing is perhaps the only way to bring peace and economic stability again.

Its interesting even Farage U turned and is saying Ukraine should be in NATO.

Shows you how toxic Trump is the UK and Europe generally

Well, you can’t go betraying your allies and then be surprised when opinion turns against you in those countries.

I don’t know if Trump has really thought about what forcing Europe to stand on its own means in the long run. He’ll be the first to be outraged if Europe becomes self sufficient for security and starts following its own agenda.

The US experienced this before in the 1960s when Europe started to recover from WW2 and no longer had to do whatever aligned with US foreign policy. You had stuff like France withdrawing from NATO, withholding of political, military and economic support for the war in Vietnam. Trump lives in some fantasy world where the US gets nothing for the resources it sinks into Europe. He could find reality bites him in a couple of years if he carries on like this.

I hope this leads to a serious decoupling from the US.

It’s totally insane and ridiculous how reliant we are on them for defence.

Sweden, Norway, UK, France and Germany have excellent weapons industries and we need to looking towards them for our equipment from now on.

The Americans only understand one thing apparently, and that’s money, so that’s how we respond.

Ukraine are doing excellent things in that space as well, so we have what we need to start defending ourselves.

Poland too. They’ve been arming like a country that would prefer destruction to a return to Russian domination.

Why is your first instinct always surrender?

I’ve never known a loan provider not ask for their money back with interest, either in the movies or real life.

Why would people think the US is sinking all this money for free? Ukraine was always going to pay it back, this just outlines how, and it’s no surprise Trump is pouncing on their raw materials.

What should happen is that Russia pays war reparations to Ukraine which in turn fund the debts to the US and Europe, but chances of that are slim to none. Ukraine is gonna foot the bill of Russia’s invasion and suffer for decades because of it.

Zelensky’s task is to make sure the terms of the support continuing in return are strong in Ukraines favour.

Anyway, time for Europe to wipe its own ass rather than the US.

The U.S. is a global hegemon, it maintains its dominance by keeping other potential superpowers at bay through its influence over satellite nations. In this case Ukraine.

What transactional brained dipshits like president evil zoolander don’t understand is Ukraine is already paying the U.S. back by fighting its war against Russia.

Twisting their arm for concessions and making deals with Russia signals to other partners not to trust the U.S., ultimately weakening the U.S. on the global stage and strengthening China in the process.

My first instinct is always diplomacy.
However, in two major events that we discussed - Diplomacy has been thrown out of the window. There is still some scope in this one but still.

We cannot let the world continue to burn because we wish to keep hold of some land. I know people who have been out of work for more than a year now.
Land & Religion is no more important than actual lives and at the moment, de-escalation & reconciliation of any form will help lives.

Prioritising land & religion over human lives fucked Syria & Yemen and displaced thousands of Ukrainians. How long do we wish for it to continue?

It just sucks that US & Russia continue to be the major benefactor out of this and they will continue doing this in future.
