The Russian Invasion of Ukraine

I’m pretty sure he just pissed off a Chinese diplomat by bringing up their human rights record.

The Americans are gonna completely tank the reputation of the ICC to save their genocidal masters.

And then Putin will use that to continue his expansionist fantasy.

And we will be closer to conflict between major powers than ever.

There has been no major world war since 1945 as the organisations created to prevent one were strong and believed in by many people.

Now, though, they are being dismantled for stupid reasons.

To quote Alastair Campbell “We always say we’ve brought up their human rights record”. They aren’t listening, we choose to not push them further.

It’s not exactly out of character for us Brits to ignore human rights violations when it suits us.

Especially when pundits keep quiet about football club owners or World Cup host nations and ignore what’s going on. :grinning:

In fairness that BBC actually did address the issues going on in Qatar on their very first broadcast.

But I think they were alone in doing that.

It’s true the BBC did criticise the World Cup in Qatar for a while but they have certainly been quiet about Man City, with several pundits seeming to favour them over us.

Dear Vladimir,

Please could you hack the bank and remove any record of my mortgage. That would really piss them off and I can’t say I’d be best pleased about it either :eyes:

Who needs intelligence services when we have the Duchy of Lancaster!

Hopefully not tomorrow afternoon as I’m in an operating theatre.

Hope you ok? Wish you well for tomorrow!

Cheers, all went well. I’ll be around on here for a while longer I’m afraid.

It’s going to be so painful for Ukrainians if after all this conflict Zelensky is forced to the peace table, and they end up with pretty much the same deal that was on the table during the Minsk accords.

Zelensky would have to flee the country if he signs anything like that.

No, they will end up with a worse deal than the Minsk accords.

The Minsk accords was all of Ukraine in tact. Minus Crimea. With the main points being: no NATO and no legislature banning the use of Russian and violating the rights of ethnic Russians or those culturally identifying as Russian in the Eastern provinces of Luhansk and Donetsk.

Now it will be all that plus the currently occupied territory lost.

Imagine if someone told us 3 years ago that Russia would need the help from North Korea. Imagine having to lean against and be friends with North Korea. That’s pretty much as low as you can sink.

I don’t think they’ll care one iota if they get a good deal.

The possibility of Russia obtaining a “good” deal, is very narrow.

There’s no way Ukraine will remain a politically neutral country after the conflict regardless of how it resolves.

This entire conflict has been embarrassing for Putin and Russia.
