Even the crazy bad ass has to do his own calculations; otherwise, he had already nuked Ukraine long time ago (and Xi invaded Taiwan).
If there is a world war, it will not be a WWII model anymore.
99% of the population will die, including the ones who initiated the nuke wars… but they are the ones who don’t want to die and conquer the world. They get nothing back after all in, so, why would they risk all for nothing?

That being said serious questions need raising about how well maintained trident is and how to improve that.
I don’t think we are fucked. While all of this has been kicking off, Starmer has had a cosy chat with President Xi and there’s talk of a thaw in diplomatic relations. If he plays this right (I have my doubts) he could actually use China as an intermediary. Putin will not want to feel like support from China is slipping.
The real issue for me is that the lives of so many are in the hands of a few old men with big egos and no real care for humanity.
