The randomly nothing thread

I just don’t understand why you would want to give out so much uneeded personal information on the web. You’re asking for trouble in the long term.

That shit app is literally a data mining exercise for that chipmunk cunt.

Every day I get notifications to add stuff to my bio, fuckerberg can fuck out lol.

Facebook is trash. Insta is so much better, altho facebook owns it now so it has actually gotten a bit shittier lately. Twitter is the one I use most.

I deactivated my Facebook about 7/8 years ago and I’d never ever consider getting it back.

I use Instagram as my social media release and it’s the only app I’d ever use.

Facebook is great if you use it right.
Amount of stuff or great info in various groups is something no other platform provides.
I don’t think I will ever deactivate Facebook. I have enough tolerance to deal with rest of bullshit.

Facebook belongs to the Boomers now. I don’t interact with any of my friends on it anymore whatsoever, for me it’s basically just a platform to collect memes and read the odd news story.

Not on Instagram, I can’t see the point of it in my case. It’s for posting photos and I don’t go to enough interesting places or do enough interesting things to produce any decent #content lol. If I’m not using it for that then what purpose does it serve me? I’m not particularly interested in the carefully crafted social media profiles and lives of celebrities.

I have an account but I strictly lurk via that. It’s great for me as I’ve managed to streamline it to a woodworking community. Checking out what methods and ways people build things around the world is eye opening. It’s always great learning a new method of how to approach certain things within that field.

You can tell who the influencers are and that can be a bit of a drag, but you can generally weed out the legit craftsmen on there. I guess that’s my nerdy version of it, I’ve no other use for it.

I was in one because of a running group I was in. Dropped it though because again you get put into a position of having to respond in a inane way and sucked into a role I didnt want to play.

High five dude. Fellow woodworking viewer myself. Follow them on YouTube as well.
Watching a canoe being built from scratch is amazing.

Same! What people do you follow?

My go-to subs are Paul Sellers, Dorian Bracht, Neil McKinlay, Northmen, Scott Brown Carpentry and the Samurai Carpenter. Some are on Instagram, the other mainly YouTube.

I love watching Japanese woodworking videos too. Insane amount of craftsmanship and very therapeutic to watch as well haha.

I don’t know their names but I tend to randomly check their videos and just watch any video where they make tables. I have often found myself watching 40mins of just that…haha

Wood turning videos are relaxing.

There is this one channel that uses timelapse excellently, really entertaining. Can’t find it

This one for canoe building.

Can you share one or two? Have never seen them.

I can’t seem to lock down one particular channel for it but I’ve watched this once or twice and the way they clamp up the little boxes are awesome.

They seem to use wood planes for every metric increment. Crazy.

Oh I forgot about this guy as well. Has a nice relaxed approach about his videos.

Me too.
The Japanese wood carving is amazing but I usually watch the more practical woodworking videos about things like building tables, shelving, out buildings etc.

I often find that, if I design something myself and then work out a way to build it, if I check a professional on You Tube, it’s almost always the same way they would do it themselves, which is quite satisfying.

What I find interesting about Japanese wood working the ideas they come up with are often simple, yet very effective.
There is a channel called the Japanese toolbox show, where they have things that even a beginner can make with basic tools, and there are other channels where the carpentry is so difficult, you realise they are at a completely different level of skill.

I’m going to make a small workshop in the garden so I’ve been watching loads of You Tube videos of how other people have done it.
Building a gable roof seems to be the most difficult part, especially as I’m doing it on my own, unless I can persuade my wife to help me. :grinning:

I don’t think there has ever been a more appropriate topic for this thread.

I wish I could indulge myself into it,.but it’s way too hectic for me to take this up.
Definitely a retirement plan. Will love to own a workshop for my own pleasure.

Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are all equally pointless in my opinion, unless you’re able to gain from the exposure commercially as a small business.

I can see how they get addictive once you’re inside the bubble, but from the outside looking in it’s pretty embarrassing the amount of time some people spend each day on them

I only use Instagram and it’s far and away the most enjoyable. I can spend a lot of time browsing through the feeds and enjoying the videos and pictures people upload. I use my personal account a fair amount.

I follow countless football, boxing and music pages and they always throw up a lot of enjoyable content.

And Twitter can be good fun too from a personal perspective although I jumped off it about 7 years ago.

Instagram is great for entertainment on the go. A lot of unsigned comedians, music artists etc on there who share plenty of content. Good for sunday league teams too and others to gather a following and share vids.

Pointless if someone is just posting selfies all day though.

Reminds me of my friend, “I’m a vegetarian. I don’t eat meat, other than bacon”

I believe he means to say he follows a vegan diet and only occasionally resorts to eating meat; which is fine imo.

There are vegetarians who eat eggs, dairy etc.

There are non-veg who sometimes go a whole month without eating meat.
