When it comes to midfielders, goal scoring doesn’t rank particularly highly when rate a player. I place a higher emphasis on general play and ability to exert influence in midfield and the final third.
I need to see more from ESR in central areas but atm Gallagher is a better player right now in most areas of midfield play and has a higher ceiling, imo

Gallagher still falls very much in the “workhorse” territory for me.

Seems a little more skillful than that. IDK how many pure workhorse orcs are left in the game at the top level.
He has an engine on him but that takes nothing away from his all round game.
Much more involved in build up than the likes of Willock are capable of, if Willock isn’t scoring then what else is he doing? Same can’t be said of Gallagher.

I don’t agree with that on Willock personally.
For what is worth, I like both him and Gallagher but I do think Gallagher is getting overhyped.
I do wonder what Chelsea will decide to do with him next summer.
Watching them play there’s a clear difference in their football ability with regard to the technical and facilitation side of the game, Willock is seriously lacking there.
Perhaps there is hype building but that doesn’ take away from him being a better footballer outside of goals IMO
