The Conservative Party

That’s basically what’s happening with test and trace it seems like.

People just working from home doing the odd call and watching Netflix the rest of the day  :arteta:

Government bodies are kings when comes to wasting money, working in the nhs made realise that pretty quickly.

Dunno if I’ve said this before but I worked for a builders at my local hospital when they were in special measures and I’ve never seen so much money wasted in my entire life.

They don’t negotiate at all, just through money at anything on the whims of the director or board members

How in the hell, are nukes a priority right now?!

They seem to be spending money on fucking everything at the moment, can only guess its to keep production and specialist jobs here? Fuck knows man.

I’m not impressed with the priorities of this government or BJ’s broader foreign policy but it’s essential and very necessary for the UK to maintain a nuclear deterrent that is in line with technological advancements.

Tbf many other industries could provide many more jobs than this obsolete nuclear deterrent.

And are they not increasing the number of nukes more than anything else?

A nuclear deterrent will never be obsolete as long as our ideological enemies have them too. Post cold war proliferation treaties have proven to be ineffective due to bad actors on the international stage.

I’m sure Western societies would love nothing more than to redirect the expense of nuclear programs elsewhere but you have to be on guard to match the capacity of your opponents or else, that includes stockpile too.

Is 180 warheads enough? Why 260 instead? I don’t know but I’m sure it fits into a wider strategic plan

Flag-shagging, Tory idiot

Peak :uk: behaviour

What is happening to this country :joy:

Disgusting :face_vomiting:

The left keeps on taking the bait.

The flag “row” has been manufactured by right leaning strategists in order to further draw contrast in the culture war and undermine the BBC. Most people don’t care about that measure or support it, yet prominent left wingers are complaining on all forms of media about it, this isn’t how you win over the silent majority

What I don’t get is why it’s such an issue that the flag is flown anyway? I can’t see why this country has such a strong opposition to flag flying haha. It’s pretty normal everywhere else you go in the world

I think it’s because, when you drive around and see houses with a massive flag pole and a union jack on the top of it the owners are usually people that, not only hold right wing views but also want to flaunt them.

I don’t get nationalism and flag waving.
Along with religion, It causes more wars than anything else.

Thinking the country you live in is the greatest, just because you were born there, is an archaic point of view but Tories love it because it keeps the working classes in control;, especially when there is an upcoming war.

This is what won Trump the election.
All he talks about is America first and the flag, when what he actually means is, himself first and I’ll use the flag as a tool to get my own way.

You always imply the working classes are fucking thick and it pisses me off man. The working class are controlled by newspapers and a flag lol.

Fuck off with that.

Yeah, the left does need to wise up to an extent when it comes to being drawn into this culture war stuff, which is largely nonsense. The Tories are delighted when they can control the narrative and make it about these kinds of cultural issues and not have the focus being on the poor job they’ve done on more substantive issues during the first year and a half of this government.

Obviously I don’t want to see an abandonment of important principles (like opposing bills that are authoritarian in nature and limit the right to protest), but when it comes to this flag related stuff there isn’t really something important to argue imo. If they want to fly the Union flag everywhere all the time just leave them to it and don’t engage, cos it doesn’t matter. I can’t say I notice how often the flag is flown on public buildings, it could be all the time or not at all and I wouldn’t really give a shit. Let people like that MP above complaining about the number of flags depicted in a BBC financial report reveal themselves as being the ones with ridiculous views about a flag.
