The Conservative Party

That looks like a seriously rattled government to me.

Bet they regret clapping on their doorsteps now :joy:

I do not follow.

Of course I would never expect this from Irish civil servants who are evidently a higher quality, but this is pathetic from whoever decided to pump this propaganda out from the DHSC.

Gotcha. And agree. Probably approved by a pencil pusher earning more than that!

Starting salary not bad over here.

The “benefits” of austerity

Proves how stupid, moronic and idiotic the British public are.

No it doesn’t

It’s so frustrating the support for a tax hardly anyone pays, that is already so underpaid and contributes to such a lack of social mobility.

Yet they bleed the income PAYE guys. Consistently.

If that does cause support for Tories then it’s just dumbfounding.

The thread with the graph is interesting but.

Yes. Indeed.

Should just abolish the inheritance tax altogether.

Why?

It might be because inheritance tax is so ridiculously unlikely to be something I ever contend with, but I’ve never really understood why people should be taxed on what they leave to others in their will.

I think for the vast majority of people that’s a perfectly reasonable expectation. And the tax is designed in such a way that it won’t actually affect the vast majority of people. So the exemptions deal with the majority and the rest can likely afford the tax. Seems fine to me.

Most rich people that are eligible to pay IHT don’t even pay the full whack as any adviser worth even a grain of salt will tell them to put it in a trust which exempts their estate from IHT as the assets are no longer a part of their estate.

To be honest I don’t know what the solution is, but the inequality in this country is crazy, and there’s a small amount of people at the top that are dodging huge amount of tax through loopholes.

It would be much more lucrative to close these loopholes and get that tax, instead of constantly shitting on the PAYE, middle income guys.

Constantly increasing national insurance, income tax, VAT, student loans (basically a graduate Uni tax because it will never be paid off for majority) when huge amounts are increasingly heading to the Caymans with zero filtering.

The asset rich class that may not even need to work are doing great.

Anyone aspirational or trying to work for something gets shat on in this country.
