Tennis is the one sport were fans are so squeamish though.
Anybody who isn’t a 100 percent conformist always has people squirming.
Guess it’s mainly from it being a bit of an upper class base. Somehow though that filters down too others who follow it. Never understood that.

Feel like his match against Medvedev is the final of the tournament.
This slam is his to lose IMO.
Zverev looking like he might be on a choking mission here vs Carreno Busta.
Recovered to win the final 3 sets, still think the winner of Thiem vs Medvedev takes home the slam.

Thiem takes it, good match. Medvedev couldn’ve been up two sets to one but couldn’t get it together when he needed it most.
Had five break points in the 2nd and served for the set in the 3rd, Zverev has no chance against Thiem in the final. Just doesn’t have it m.entally and his game isn’t a good match up either
Really hope Thiem converts this chance into his 1st Grand Slam final, would be a worthy champion.

Agree with you about Zverev’s mental toughness but he came back from 2 sets down to make it to the final so perhaps he is turning a corner. A lot of his game depends on his big serve. If he gets his serve going, Thiem will find it hard to break him. If it goes to tie breakers, Zverev will have the advantage with his serve. So I wouldn’t writeoff Zverev’s chances.
Having said that, I would put my money on Thiem.
Carreno Bausta threw the match away IMO I give Zverevev some credit but ultimately two sets up you have to put your opponent away especially someone like Zverev who looked like he wanted the next available taxi, there’s few players in the top 30 that would have allowed him back in the match.
It’s players like Carreno Busta and Coric who lack the mental fight and consistency that allowed a very poor Zverevev to make it through.
Carreno Busta will regret this match and collapse for the rest of his life and its highly doubtful he makes another GS semi let alone get to a final.
Don’t think Zverevs’s serve will hold up either, he’s propensity to throw in doubles to lose key points is unmatched. The 2ns serve is a huge issue and will be again in the final.

What a final set, 3 breaks all, both players served for it and failed, both players gassed and Thiem takes it 8-6 in the breaker.

Andy Murray only took 6 games off Stan Wawrinka in Round 1 at the French, it’ll be interesting to see how long he carries on for.
By end of next season he’ll have retired I think.
Just isn’t the same anymore, to have that kind of surgery and play at this level is not possible. Must be so frustrating to have such limitations considering what he was capable of before.
His movement and ability to get balls back in court were trademarks of his game, still moves ok but its just not the same.
