The truth always lies in the middle. Is Arteta so bad that he’s gonna take a talented squad and get us relegated? As much as it looked that way to start the year we averaged out our results in the last few weeks and we went up to the part of the table that reflects our squad talent. We should probably be right with the Scum and behind United but they have their own issues.
Reality is that Arteta has taken a 5th/6th level team and we will probably remain 5th/6th. Saddest part about this is that the Arsenal board will be happy with us getting back to Europe. So we will flounder around 5th/6th for another couple seasons while they give Mikel more time cuz it seems like he’s making progress when in fact he’s just accomplishing the bare minimum

Man city trounced us 5-0, Chelsea played blindfolded and put us aside 2-0, now Liverpool 4-0.
Brent-fucking-ford newly promoted beat us 2-0. We were bottom 3 not so long ago.
What did you lot expect tonight to happen? It always was going to end up like this tonight.

Really? We didn’t learn a whole lot though. It was a big test for a very young team and they got vaporized. It happens.
I’m way more interested in where we go from here. Under Arsene we’d get pasted at Chelsea or Liverpool and then record a few draws before picking up performances and results again.
How quickly can the young players compartmentalize this defeat? Not disregard it but not have lasting scars from it a la Chambers vs. Montero.

That has been the topic since our last match. A win here would have been a statement. We weren’t even close to do that which certainly was a humble pie.
We’re clearly far off that level but I disagree that you should be going into every game in fear of getting embarrassed.
3 teams better than us beat us and we lost to Brentford in their first game ever in the PL with a covid hit squad.

If ur an Arteta out person you shouldn’t be worried about being proven right because all of the underlying metrics show how truly terrible an Arteta managed team is. Sure there will be times we win and have a nice run cuz we have good players but we are never going to be a top team again under this management. I’ve resigned myself to this reality, everyone will be there eventually.

It was Arteta’s opportunity to reset a bit and he was able to do it. The results were more important at that time than the performances. As the results continued to stay positive I think we were entitled to expect better performances. The Spurs match was a total gift but we also played very well. Leicester was impressive and I think even Watford was a good result with a decent performance.
Today was just a disaster. Idk if you’re familiar with the term “bonking” which in some distance running or cycling circles means you just shut down. I think it sums up our performance today.
Not sure what you’re saying here. Scrapping 1-0 wins against two bottom dwellers as you say doesn’t change the fact they’re still 3 points for the team.
It’s the PL, all games are tough and they can all punish you.
Remember when Watford slapped Liverpool a few years ago and ended their undefeated run? Remember West Brom beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last season?
Our performances have been predominantly very good and the fact that we’ve also won games where we didn’t play well is a good thing.
Well the interesting thing about Wenger is we were out scored 7 - 3 by lolpool in his last year here. However the man still finished the season with a +25 GD and in those matches against lolpool we actually had the advantage in possession and passes both home and away. So similar results but under Wenger we didn’t look so completely out classed and clueless cuz the man had a good philosophy and wanted his teams to play football. As of now we are 1/3 of the way through the season and we have a -4 GD it’s just beyond pathetic.

Look we’ve gone 10 unbeaten - winning 8 of them - one loss to a much better team and the fickle excuses for fans come out of the dark.

Exactly.
If games were decided on performances rather than undeserved points, we’d be in the bottom half of the PL.
Why is that every other club, with an under performing manager, do something about it while we just persevere with a proven failure?

I won’t say Arteta is a “failure”.
After 2 years… I am pretty much confident to say, he is nothing special, and there are a bunch of them available.
He has a big next month coming up, games at United, Everton and home to West Ham, we need positive results.
