Super Mik Arteta

I think if we’re bottom half or something silly by the start of December again then he’ll be gone, but only time will tell I suppose.

It really is laughable.

-Finish in a respectable position (Finished 8th)
-Challenge for EL (Lost to Olympiacos)
-Instill a culture (Zzzzzz)

Then for 20-21

-Make top 4 (Finished 8th).
-Challenge in Europe (lost winnable tie against Villarreal).

Basically zero expectations met 18 months in. FA Cup kept him in a job.

He’s favourite to get the sack, the team was booed at half and full time at the first game fans were at en masse in 18 months and if things don’t improve it’s a situation that just can’t and won’t be ignored.

Edu will bin him no problem to save his own skin.

20/12/2019 was around near his appointment. According to those objectives he’s fucking failed miserably.

  • Finish in a respectable position. First of all that’s a joke for a club like us but we finished 8th so whatever.
  • Challenge for the EL. We got knocked out by Olympiakos lol.
  • Instill a culture. Well we’ve seen a lot of incomings and outgoings but not much changed.

2020/21:

  • Make top 4. Fucking A. We were doing a grand job trying to get relegated in 15th. We weren’t in the race. Major failure.
  • Challenge in Europe. We embarrassed ourselves at Villarreal and huffed and puffed against Benfica and Olympiakos. Challenge my arse.

So we have a manager who isn’t even achieving the club targets and is surviving and being backed with a monster transfer window…why?

Didn’t realise the tweet was from December 2019 haha

Tbh though.

8th in 19-20 is probably respectable when you take over at Christmas in the bottom half.

Losing to Olympiacos yeah well that terrible.

Winning the FA cup beating better sides City and Chelsea to do it is huge and in turn qualifying for Europe.

then for 20-21

8th in the league yeah that’s a massive fail.

EL semi Finals well that considering challenging for the EL if we’re being honest.

Yep Arteta is getting the full season.

Hoping that they hit the bricks together. Edu isn’t qualified for his job either. Club desperately needs some seasoned people in the front office that actually have a clue as to what they are doing.

No more schmucks learning on the job. Going cheap has cost the Kroenkes a lot of money.

That’s fair.

I’d be singing a different tune if we’d beaten Brentford and Chelsea. The last two weeks have just been so depressing, not just the results but the way we have looked on the pitch. The whole thing has basically pushed me out of the “I’ll give him a last chance this year and see how this goes” camp into the “Fuck this is hopeless, somebody call Conte” position.

Yeah man I completely understand your sentiment. This is the season I’m expecting 70 points in the league, so the first 2 games have been completely and utterly shattering.

They would rather double down and waste time and money than admit the truth which is that they’ve been swindled by a fraud

How much damage would have been done by the time they have the guts to give him the chop?

Arteta is just the sunk cost fallacy in the shape of Pep’s cone man.

Not sure that’s a change to make mid season to be honest. Unless we can land someone really top notch. Not that I have any attachment to Edu but the new guy needs to walk into some structure.

The credit he had in the bank from the FA Cup win has long gone. He’s shown that he is too arrogant and stuck in his ways to adapt to the team that he has. He’s been praised for his coaching ability and you can argue that most of the squad has gone backwards under his management with the exception of maybe Saka and ESR.

He looked lost and helpless on Sunday against Chelsea. He didn’t even attempt to change the tactics and match up with the formation that Chelsea was running. And here we sit with nearly 200M spent and no considerable improvement to the first team. It’s only been two games but I’m not filled with any confidence that he is gonna be able to turn it around this season.

The only hope of turning it around is lots of that investment you talk about wasn’t available on Sunday. 50 mill Partey, 50 mill White, 25 mill Gabriel, 35 mill Odegaard. Aubameyang also hasn’t started a match.

Grudgingly have to say that’s a decent point you make there.

Real season starts after the international break :raised_hands:

With the exception of White, you mean the same players he finished 8th with last season? Sure.

That’s also a bit misleading, how many games did Odegaard and Partey play in the first 14 games last season ? Which if we’re being honest was the reason we only finished 8th due to a diabolical start.

I will say that we need to regularly start getting our best 11 on the park though and fast, as I’m running out of excuses for Mikel.
