You ain’t seen nothing yet. Wait until Wolves beat us in the Europa League final and get CL football.
Arteta forced to play “max two touches” football, involved Özil, used Torreira as pivot which made Xhaka more comfortable with and without the ball, encouraged the wingbacks to be part of the ball possession and to shot on target.
Please, tell me it’s not a dream.
Imo Bournemouth made Torreira and Xhaka comfortable by doing absolutely nothing about them all game which gave them a result.
I would love it if Arteta fixes our midfield and I genuinely believe he will because if anything he was a clever midfielder himself and trained by Wenger who whatever you might think was great at coaching midfielders, but I wouldn’t give this performance any value for any of the two because they were literally untouched unless they asked for it and when they did they looked the same as usual as of late imo.
Agree with the rest.
We’ve got our Arsene-/b/all back
Never has so much shit ever been written about a draw at Bournemouth.
Any supporters under the impression that the board hired Emery and Arteta because they were world beating managers, rather than a cheap alternative to a proper proven manager, just have a look at what other top level managers are earning.
Guardiola - 20m
Mourinho - spurs - 15m
Ancelotti - 14m
Rodgers - 10m
Pochettino - spurs - 8.5m
Klopp - 8m
Solskjaer - 7.5m
Hassenhuttl - 6m
Benitez - 6m
Pellegrini - 6m
Emery - 6m
Lampard - 5m
Arteta - 5m
Howe 4m
It’s interesting that Arteta is being paid less than Emery.
It would seem to indicate that the board think that Arteta, who was second choice to Emery last season, is now fit to be our manager but not good enough to earn more or the same as him.
Why is that?
Could it be he isn’t as good or because of his lack of managerial experience?
Anyone would think that Kroenke and the board went for Arteta because he was cheaper and the supporters wouldn’t notice his lack of inexperience because he used to wear an Arsenal shirt.
If you have enough dots on the page you can draw whatever picture you want…
Klopp is surprisingly low. He has made players like Henderson, Wijnaldum, Keita look like world class guys and made Liverpool play scintillating football and dominate domestically and internationally.
And he is only a few million more than Emery was and Arteta is.
Unreal.
Should be paid as much if not more as Guardiola.
That’s true.
But we have plenty of dots and when they’re drawn together they don’t paint a pretty picture.
Klopp just signed a new deal, you can bet he’s just doubled his money or at least near enough.
If this is the state of this forum after one game, I dread a run of poor form.
We are in a zone of uncertainty and there is no point going out of your way to prove this is a bad appointment or good. We are all clueless, even Arteta.
Can you get off your high horse and realize that every one is jesting about a positive prospect about this new era?
If however you really need to place your marker, go to my ‘Told you so’ Archive thread because the poll is gonna close soon.
But this is the point.
It’s not a reaction to the game against Bournemouth it’s the fact that everyone involved with the club from the board, the players to the supporters haven’t got a clue what Arteta is like as a manager.
What other top club, or any business in Europe, would make a managerial decision in a multi billion pound industry based on guesswork?
We have seen us buy players that aren’t proven at the top level and we have seen us drop down further every season because of it.
It’s a false economy not to go for the best you can afford and now we are seeing the same mistakes being made with our choice of managers.
We act like a cheapskate club and you get what you pay for.
So with Arteta I’m not expecting much and our fall from the top four is not as temporary as our board, and some supporters insist.
The smart move at this stage would have been Poch, Allegri or even Ancelotti. Arteta is a major risk that I doubt we can afford at this stage.
Ancelotti would’ve been an utter waste of time and painful as pulling teeth.
Poch or Allegri yeah but the reality is they wouldn’t/don’t want us.
@InvincibleDB10 you need to get real, we are not as attractive a proposition as you think particularly when there will most likely be top jobs available at the end of the season. Why would these guys rush mid-season to come here of all places?
Why wouldn’t they?
We are one of the most profitable clubs in Europe.
We have a massive fanbase and new stadium.
We’re in the richest league in Europe and in London.
We have a history of playing good football and are one of the most successful teams in the PL.
We are one of the most famous clubs in Europe.
But we have only one thing holding us back, Kroenke.
All this history talk just like in football its about what have you done lately , where are we right now?
Poch can’t afford to go somewhere and not win big again, for that reason alone he needs to go somewhere that’s geared to challenge for big trophies. Allegri also most likely doesn’t want a project on the scale of ours, we’re what a 5 plus year project in the absolute best case scenario.
Your belief that we can attract the very best managers this point in the season when they know that better jobs will most likely be available in the summer is bordering on arrogance tbh and its severely misplaced.
But Leicester, Everton and Liverpool all did it with their managers so why can’t we?
It also depends on what other jobs are available.
Pochettino is clearly waiting for the Man U or real Madrid job but he didn’t rule us out.
Our problem is the board lack of ambition.
If you want someone badly enough you can get anyone.
Look at spurs with Mourinho.
They went from Pochettino to Mourinho, while we went from Emery to Arteta.
There is no way spurs are a bigger club than us yet they have had two top level managers in succession.
Ancelotti is the not guy to take us where we want to go and will flop at Everton, Rodgers was available and they cocked that one up sure.
Poch and Allegri are out of reach if we’re being objective , bringing up Jose is hilarious to me. Past his best and might win them an FA Cup but who cares? Been there done that plus he’ll leave them in an utter state in a couple of years.
We don’t even know what Arteta is and you’re being overly pessimistic. If he’d have failed then fair enough but you’re just going on and on without even knowing how this will go, I know you’re the resident Debbie Downer but it’s a bit lame tbh.
I’m willing to slap down money with anyone who thinks Ancelotti is going to flop.
Everton are going to back him extensively and he’s going to be a resounding success at Everton.
